Dee, as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, was born in Visalia, California.  Her family moved around California finally settling in Stockton, California in 1935, where she grew up on a small farm.  She was a sixth generation Californian. Her family descended from the Spanish Conquistadors conquering new territory in America for Spain and established themselves in California.img03172018_0002

Dee was an avid reader of history, politics, the military, and biographies of great leaders.  She enjoyed traveling, opera, a wide variety of music, ballet, art and the theatre and vivid political discussions.  She shared these interests with her daughter, Lisa, whom she had a very special mother/daughter bond.  They were best friends as well as mother/daughter.

Her husband John was not an opera or theatre fan, but they enjoyed attending Elk’s events, going dancing, and entertaining friends and family in their home, picnics and bar-b-ques.  They also spent a lot of time with nieces and nephews taking them to Yosemite or other places of interest to children.

Dee was a very loving, caring person whose friendship with friends continued past grammar school and high school.  She was a very elegant, classy and wise woman and her family admired her for her strength and wisdom.  The love she gave her family was unconditional.

Dee is survived by her loving husband John and daughter Lisa.  She was the fourth child of nine. She is preceded in death by her sisters and brother-in-laws, Agnes Arnaiz Romo (Ray), Marie Arnaiz Livpovsky (Tom) and her baby sister Evelyn, who passed at age 2, brothers Rudy (Buzz) Arnaiz, Ismael Ventura Arnaiz III, and Eugene Arnaiz and her parents Ismael Ventura (II) and Irene Arnaiz.  She is survived by her brother Howard Arnaiz (Lacey), and sister LaVerne Arnaiz Stevens (Don), and sister-in-laws Shirley Arnaiz and Treva Lemon and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

Frances Warmerdam

Our beloved mother, Frances Warmerdam, passed away at home under the tender care of her family on March 6th, 2018 at the age of eighty seven.  She was the eldest daughter of Anna and Louie Ott of Escalon, California.

Frances was a devoted wife to Albertus Warmerdam for forty eight years until his death in 2001. Together they raised five children on their family ranch in Lodi. She was a generous, hard-working woman who did everything for her family.  Even in her final days, she made certain everyone’s birthday was remembered with a card, a smile and encouraging words.

Frances was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church for over fifty years and had a very strong faith.  Everything she did embodied the selfless spirit of a woman devoted to giving and sharing of herself and her good fortune.  She remains greatly loved and her memory will be an inspiration within the lives  she touched.

Frances is preceded in death by her sisters Betty Ann Van Duyn and Martha Beeler.  She is survived by her five children:  Louis Warmerdam (wife Sandi), Denise Kalend (husband Mike), Marc Warmerdam (wife Denise), John Warmerdam (wife Liz), Laura Schmader (husband Mike) - her fourteen cherished grand-children:  Dru, Ari, Kristen, Brandon, Megan, Britnee, Daniele, Brett, Breanna, Matthew, Brock, Nicolas, Casey, Ellen, and her five beloved great grand-children:  Gio, Téa, Emilee, Jozef and Harper (and one more on the way!).
