Pete Woods, 82, lost his battle with cancer on May 2, 2015. He was born on April 22, 1933 in Los Angeles, California.
He married Katherine (Kathy) Stevens on October 5, 1963 and had two sons, Greg and Steve. Kathy preceded Pete in death in August of 2003, shortly before their 40th wedding anniversary.
Pete was part owner of Delta Welding and spent his career in the industrial gas and welding industry. He retired from Airgas after a long and successful career in 1997. Pete loved the S.F. Giants and attended many games each season and spring training. He was very much into his classic cars and was a member, and past president, of the American Steel Car Club in Lodi.
He is survived by Greg Woods and wife, Melinda of Oregon and Steve Woods and wife, Denise of Lodi. He is also survived by the loves of his life, his grandchildren: Courtney, Morgan, Brandon, and Mitchell. He is also survived by his companion, Martha (Marty) Duplichan who we love and appreciate very much. Pete and Marty enjoyed many great trips and traveled extensively while they were together.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the American Cancer Society to further research into this debilitating disease.
We appreciate all the prayers and concern that extended family and friends have shown us during this time of grief. Remember John 8:12… “Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying “I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows Me will never walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.” HCSB
Pete knew his savior and is surely enjoying the Giants game in Heaven!

Barbara Spitzer passed away April 26, 2015 after a valiantly waged battle with ovarian cancer.Barbara was born and raised in LaPorte, Indiana. She worked many years as an orthodontic technician with TP Laboratories and moved to California at 18 when the company opened a branch in Lodi. After marrying, she took a break from career to stay home and raise her two babies and also began art and business classes at Delta Junior College.
Barbara excelled in calligraphy and creative sign design, eventually opening two businesses-- Signs by Sienega, and later, Vital Signs. She found her niche in screen printing, working at Gary’s Signs for seven years and Lodi Screen Arts for 18 years where she eventually became production manager. Barbara loved to cook and won many national contests for her recipes that were published in numerous magazines and cookbooks.
Her love of cooking turned into a love of writing. Answering an ad in the Lodi News-Sentinel in 2005, Barbara started writing her popular food column, “From Barbara’s Kitchen: Questions and Answers for the Home Cook.” She cherished this connection with the community of Lodi, where she made many treasured friendships and which she has been proud to call home for 51 years.
