Mary Kate Vosburg

April 21, 1942 - August 10, 2024

Mrs. Mary Catherine “Mary Kate” Gill Vosburg died peacefully in Stockton, California on August 10, 2024 at the age of 82. 

Mary Kate is survived by her loving husband of more than 56 years James Stewart Vosburg; by her children and their spouses Mary Catherine Vosburg, Suzanne and Chuck Rockel, Patrick and Christie Vosburg, and Tom and Elena Vosburg; her grandchildren Adrianna Gonzalez and her husband Jorge Gonzalez, Eliaza Rivera, Henry Vosburg, Clara Vosburg, Lucille Vosburg, Madeline Vosburg, and Ethan Vosburg; her great grandchild Scarlett Gonzalez; and by her brother Steven Gillis.

Mary Kate was born on April 21, 1942 in Sonora, California to Mary Catherine Guerin and Gerald Gill. She graduated from University of California Berkeley with her Bachelor of Arts degree and with her Master of Arts degree in Sociology in 1964.  She became an elementary school teacher in Tuolomne, California. It was there that she met her soulmate Jim Vosburg and after a three-month whirlwind, they married in 1968. The newlyweds moved to Stockton, California, where they settled and welcomed four children into their home in less than five years. For 33 years, Mary Kate was an elementary school teacher in the Lincoln Unified School District, where she was beloved by her students and colleagues alike. Mary Kate was proud to be a fulltime teacher while also raising her four children and later helping to raise her grandchildren. After retiring from their teaching careers, Jim and Mary Kate took on a new full-time gig involving the care and feeding of horses, and they took up square dancing, where their love for one another continued to shine.

Mary Kate’s children remember her as a kind, warm, loving mother who had unparalleled manners and high expectations. She was an extremely charitable person who never second guessed sacrificing her own needs or wants to assist others in need. She was a passionate animal lover who had no limits when it came to caring for all kinds of creatures—from dogs, to cats, to birds, to horses, to donkeys, they always had a place in Mary Kate’s home and heart. Mary Kate was proud of her academic achievements, her California heritage, and her family, who laid roots in Sonora during the Gold Rush.

The funeral is scheduled for September 5, 2024 at 1 o’clock in the afternoon at Cherokee Memorial Park, 14165 Beckman Road, Lodi, California, with a reception to follow at the same location. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mary Kate’s life.

Nancy Marraccini-Suares

Nancy Louise Marraccini-Suares
March 1, 1954 - August 10, 2024

A special person to everyone. A light in any setting. Nancy Louise Marraccini-Suares, aged 70, of Stockton, CA, passed away at Summerfield Memory Care of Stockon on August 10 th , 2024.

Born in Stockton in 1954 to Ben and Mae Marraccini, she was the eldest of three siblings and spent the vast majority of life in her hometown. Raised in the countryside, she cherished running barefoot through the freshly plowed fields.

Nancy met Barry, the love of her life, while working at Harold Thompsons Flooring. She served as an assistant to the head of accounting, and he was an apprentice floor installer. Their friendship blossomed over the years, culminating in a kiss that marked the beginning of their special journey together. Nancy and Barry enjoyed a remarkable 40-year marriage.

Nancy had her first child, Ricky, in 1976 from a previous marriage. In 1988, she welcomed her second child, Alex, with Barry. She took great joy in watching her children grow up into strong, supportive, and compassionate men; Regularly checking in with her sons as they built their own families. Her children meant the world to her.

The news of becoming a grandmother brought Nancy great joy. She treasured the time spent with her grandchildren and loved attending sporting events, school activities, birthdays, and more. She never missed an opportunity to show her love and support for her grandkids and made sure they knew grandma loved them.

Throughout her career, Nancy worked for various employers. She ultimately retired from San Joaquin County Revenue & Recovery after more than 30 years of dedicated service. It was here that she met her best friend, Lola, and formed a lifelong bond.

Anyone who knew Nancy was aware of her profound love for helping people in any capacity possible. She thoroughly enjoyed assisting others, often prioritizing their needs above her own, embodying the very definition of altruism. Nancy also had a passion for gardening. She often experimented growing various vegetables and fruits in her side garden and watched the hummingbirds visit. For her, it was a way to relax and unwind from the day. When she craved for something sweet, she would often bake for her family and friends. Banana bread was her specialty. Her absolute favorite activity was spending time with the family. Whether it was Thanksgiving dinner or a trip to Disneyland, Nancy was always there to make lasting memories.

Nancy will always be remembered for her bright and sunny disposition and the way that she always made anyone feel welcomed and comforted. Her smile is something that will never be forgotten. Her family couldn’t have asked for a better spouse, daughter, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend, and will miss Nancy every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her. She was a special person to all.

Nancy was preceded in death by her mother Mae Marraccini, and is survived by her husband of 40 years, Barry Suares; her father Ben Marraccini; her brother Michael Marraccini and his wife Penny; her brother David Marraccini; her son Ricky Purviance and his wife Edith; her son Alex Suares and his wife Allison; her nephew Steven Marraccini; her niece Gina Marraccini; and three grandchildren, Ashley Kinsella and her husband Dylan, Dominic Purviance, and Kolbie Suares.

A memorial and celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at Cherokee Memorial Park, 14165 Beckman Road, Lodi, CA, on Monday, August 26th , 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Hertha Katzakian

In Loving Memory of Hertha Mathilda Katzakian (Koepplin)
December 9, 1925 - August 9, 2024

Hertha, aged 98, passed away peacefully at her home, on August 9, 2024. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who left behind a legacy of love, strength, and creativity that will forever be cherished by all who knew her.

Born on December 9, 2025, in Elgin, North Dakota, Hertha was the youngest of 9 children born to Jacob & Mathilda Koepplin. Hertha was a woman of remarkable resilience and passion, often sharing stories of growing up in rural North Dakota on a working farm and how that shaped her strong work ethic and need to keep herself busy and active throughout her entire life.

Hertha had a deep love for the arts, particularly painting. Her creativity knew no bounds, and she spent countless hours bringing beauty to the world through her artwork. She found inspiration in the many places she traveled to over the years, and each destination added a unique dimension to her work. Her paintings, full of life and color, reflected her vibrant spirit and the way she saw the world.

An avid golfer, Hertha enjoyed the challenge and camaraderie of the sport. She was a familiar face (and member) at the Woodbridge Golf & Country Club, where she not only honed her skill, winning dozens of golf tournaments over the years, but also forged lasting friendships.

Hertha, along with her husband and their 3 children, owned and operated Lodi Printing Company from 1948 to its closure in 2009. They served many local businesses over their 60+ years in business and built wonderful working relationships with their customers.

Above all, Hertha was a strong woman, whose courage and determination were evident in everything she did. She faced life’s challenges with grace and never wavered in her commitment to those she loved.

Hertha is survived by her 3 children, Philip Katzakian (Chris), of Lodi, Douglas Katzakian, of Galt, Virginia (Ginny) Pulliam (Don), of Lodi; 4 grandchildren, Bryan Pulliam (Tonya), Leia de Sha (David), Colin Katzakian and Lauren Katzakian; and 7 great-grandchildren (in order of birth), Luke Pulliam, Olivia de Sha, Avery de Sha, Derek Pulliam, Evelyn de Sha, Vivian de Sha and Liam Katzakian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Katzakian, and all 8 of her siblings.

Hertha will be dearly missed, and her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of all who were fortunate enough to know her, especially her family.

Her family would like to thank all their friends and extended family for their love and support during this difficult time. A private Service and Celebration of Life will be taking place to honor her memory.

Barbara Morefield

December 19, 1924 - July 29, 2024

Barbara Morefield passed away at 3:16pm on July 29, 2024 at the age of 99. She was in her home of 60 years and surrounded by her family when she left our lives and joined her husband Bill, and her sons Nick and Tim, in heaven. She was born on December 19, 1924 to her parents Frederick and Florence Tracey in the Brixton area of London. Living in London during the German bombing raids in WWII, Barbara enlisted in the Royal Air Force at 17 years old where she worked in the Operations building tracking friendly and enemy aircraft. During her service, she met Bill who was with the U.S. Army and they were married in England where they had their first son Nick. Younger son Tim and daughter Tracey joined the family while Bill finished up his military career in various locations including Virginia, Germany, and Alaska. The family moved to Stockton, CA in 1964 where Barbara became an active member of the church, local theater scene, and various clubs and charities. A social butterfly, Barbara was always the life of the party and quick to share her passion for word games, knitting, and lively conversation. Her impeccable style and lingering British accent would get your attention, but her sharp sense of humor and caring heart would seal the deal. She made an impression on everyone who was lucky enough to meet her and she will be missed by them every day. Barbara is survived by her younger sister Gerry, daughter Tracey, 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Alberta Judith Gores

June 17, 1944 - August 1, 2024

Alberta Judith Gores, known by those who loved her as Judith, passed away on August 1, 2024, in Stockton, California, at the age of 80. Born on June 17, 1944, in New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Martha Harris.

Judith dedicated 30 years of her life to teaching middle school before retiring and continuing her passion for education by teaching adult education classes through the Stockton Institute for Continued Learning. Her commitment to nurturing young minds left a lasting impact on countless students throughout her career.

Beyond her professional life, Judith was a founding member of two ukulele clubs, Monday Therapy and The Strumingos. She also founded the Lady Smith West Book Club and loved to travel the world, exploring various cultures and landscapes. Her vibrant personality made her a cherished friend to many.

Judith adored her family above all. She considered her most significant achievements to be a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed sharing her love for music and travel with them throughout her last days.

She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Gregory Gores; her sister, Gail McGrory; her children, Kelly Kidd (Kevin), John Stevens (Lily), and Meredith Halseth (Matt); and her grandchildren, Chelsea Nascimento (Jason), Zachary Baciocco, Alexander Baciocco, Maddy Halseth, Olivia Halseth, Jacob Halseth, Judith Irene Gores, Aspen Stevens, and great-granddaughter, Mia Nascimento. Judith was preceded in death by her son, Christofer Gores, and her parents.

SERVICE
A service to celebrate Judith’s life will be held at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi, California, on September 20, 2024, at 10:30 am. A reception will follow at the home of Matt and Meredith Halseth in Elk Grove, California.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in memory of Judith. All who knew her will deeply miss Judith’s warmth, wisdom, and joy.
