Shirley Ione (Holen) Ackerly

Shirley AckerlyShirley Ione (Holen) Ackerly passed away on May 28 2015. She will be joining her husband Dale Myron Ackerly who preceded her death in 2001. She was a devoted Mother and Wife with a great personality. Shirley was born on April 14, 1927 in Brandt, South Dakota, the second oldest of nine children and graduated from Clear Lake High School. She met her husband Dale in Sioux City, Iowa and was married in South Sioux City, Nebraska on April 1st 1946. Shirley started raising their children in Sioux City, Iowa. Marlene was first born in 1947, Judy was born in 1950, and Nancy was born in 1956. Shirley was a very religious person and taught her children the importance of their faith. Shirley spent Sunday’s teaching Sunday school and joyfully spending quality time with her family.

In 1963, Shirley and her family moved to Cupertino, CA. She always disliked leaving her home in the mid west. Her first job in California was as a teller with First National Bank of San Jose, CA. She then had multiple Dry Cleaner jobs as a Customer Service Associate. She proceeded on to work for GenRad in Santa Clara, CA for over twenty years. In her retirement, Shirley worked for Walgreens in San Jose, CA. where she enjoyed meeting and talking to all of her customers.

Shirley is survived by her daughters Marlene Tasker (Deceased in 2014), daughter Judy Menges, of Sugarcreek, Ohio, and daughter Nancy and Son in Law Rob Lassner of Stockton, CA. She is also survived by Grandkids, Trisha Kendrick and her husband Mike, Vicki Sturdevant and her husband Chris, Kelly Tasker, Kimberly Menges and her significant other Cory Horky, Michael Cole, Loretta Feaster and her husband Donny, Sheila Renolds and her husband Roy, and Richard Cole and his wife Jessica. Great Grandkids, Mark, Kaitland, Dakota, Jordan, Jaide, Roy Jr., Alexis, Jayden, Bailey, Colin, Mariah, Shaun, Brianna, Zachary, and Kennedy. Shirley is also survived by her two siblings Ivan Holen of South Dakota and Marlys Weisner and her husband Roger of South Dakota. She will be thought of often and missed by her family and friends.
