Shellie Renee Maxwell

Shellie Renee Maxwell passed away on July 2, 2015 in Stockton. A Beloved Single Mother who did everything she could to give her son a better life, her life was cut short before she could start a new positive life with new friends and family surrounding her. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1984, gave birth to her only son at the age of 24, and soon became a single mother who took care of her son all on her own. She began taking night classes at Delta College in 1997, eventually deciding she wanted to be in Child Development and began taking classes in that field of choice. While volunteering in the Learning Center during the day, she completed the courses needed and she applied for the Delta College Child Development Program and was eventually hired on; first only for part time and then eventually full time position. She was well liked by all the teachers and students. She worked at the Center for over 14 years, until she got hurt at work. She made the best out the situation she was put in. She remained strong through the worst times in life, knowing a brighter future would be near. She loved her service dog Presley. He provided that comfort whenever she needed it. Presley brought joy and happiness to Shellie’s life. She will be missed by her only son Scott, all of her family, friends and by Presley and other dog Remington. Shellie is survived by her son Scott Anderson; mother Doris Maxwell; father Harold Maxwell; her partner Mike Hough; sisters: Tami Byrd and Andrea Maxwell; niece Alexandria Chevalier, and nephews: Chucky Byrd, Gunner Tundgate, and Dylan Moore. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Stella and Francis DeLAcy, and by close family friend Paul Jarvis.
