Vernal LeRoy DuFrene Jr. died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015. He was 84 years old. Born August 4, 1930 to Vernal LeRoy DuFrene, Sr. and Edna Euretta Ahl in Sacramento, California, LeRoy graduated from C.K. McClatchy High school in 1948. He graduated from Sacramento Junior College in 1951. Married 62 years to Shirley Ann Stutler, LeRoy also graduated from the American Institute of Baking in Chicago.
After moving back to California, LeRoy worked for 43 years for Rainbo Bread, serving as a baker, delivery driver, and supervisor. He enjoyed collecting Ron Lee Clown statues, and Rainbo Bread and advertising memorabilia. He was active in Pacifica Lion’s Club, serving in many positions as well as being a past president. He had a very high work ethic, enjoyed ‘debating’, and loved his wife and family dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, siblings Doug DuFrene and Marilyn Bringham, uncle Del DuFrene, three children: Lee Ann Richter (Bryan), Mike DuFrene (Lisa), Mark DuFrene (Merrie), 5 grandchildren: Kristen Shafer (Dan), Jason Richter, Anna Richter, Ian Richter, Andy DuFrene and 1 great-grandson, Emory Shafer. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 grandchildren, Jonathan and Jaime Richter.
