Shirley Ann Feikert Miller4/17/1924 – 1/2/2016
Dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Shirley Ann Feikert Miller, died peacefully in Lodi on January 2, 2016 . She was born in Reno, Nevada on April 17, 1924, to Erma and Clyde Vernon and was adopted by Elfie and Ted Hinzman three years later. Shirley lived in Lodi for the remainder of her life and graduated from Lodi High School in 1941. She subsequently completed a secretarial course at Maud Cornwell’s School for Secretaries in Stockton. In 1943, she married the love of her life, Albert G. Feikert, who preceded her in death in 1980.
Shirley led a busy and fulfilling life, lovingly raising her family of four children, working as a legal secretary, and serving as president of Needham School PTA, as well as being a founding member of Y'ves Club. An accomplished pianist, Shirley often shared her talent, playing at numerous functions and clubs throughout the years, including the Emblem Club, among many others. She was a vivacious and sociable person by nature, loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Gail Ann Feikert of Stockton, Gary (Patti) Feikert of Santa Rosa, Suzan (Jim) Gillette of West Linn, Oregon, and John (Bernadette) Feikert of Sonora. Shirley was very proud of her four grandchildren, Neal (Gwen) Starr, Jr. of Nashua, New Hampshire, Claire (Shane) Feikert Moore of McMinnville, Oregon, Marisa Feikert of Santa Rosa, and Noah Feikert of Sonora. Great-grandchildren Audrey and Lena Starr arrived in 2008 and 2011, respectively.
