Robert Morton Moreland, 84, of Lodi, passed away February 11, 2016. Born March 3, 1931 in Hatfield, Arkansas to Elizabeth and Harold Moreland, Bob honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 5 years, part of that service was during the Korean Conflict. He began farming with his son, Robert, growing a variety of crops, and operating the Red Pepper fruit stand. Later, he had a tomato stand on Guild Ave and sold his crops at the farmer’s market, and he was affectionately known as “Tomato Bob”. Bob loved the sandy soil of the San Joaquin Valley, and especially loved his tractor. He enjoyed giving his grandchildren rides on his tractor, and was very proud of his family, who lovingly called him "Bucko."
Bob had a positive attitude toward people, and was a kind, generous man. He also loved fishing, hunting, and telling his fish stories.
Bob will be missed by his loving, devoted wife of 64 years, Lenore Moreland, and their children, Janice M. Knudson-Said (Isam), Catherine A. Woods (David), and Robert M. Moreland (Sandy). He also leaves behind his 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Bob is preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Moreland.
VISITATION
Visitation will be held from 2-8pm, with a Vigil service at 7pm on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way, Lodi, California.
SERVICES
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Friday, February 19, 2016 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 215 W. Walnut St, Lodi, California.
INTERMENT
Interment with military honors will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Shrine, 512 W. Saratoga St, Baltimore, MD 21201.
