James Richard Saul Jr.
August 26, 1934 – May 20, 2016
James Richard Saul Jr. was born Aug. 26, 1934 in Allentown, PA and went to rest on May 20, 2016 in Stockton, CA. James was preceded in death by both parents—the late James R. Saul Sr. & Mae Saul—and younger sister—Judith Saul. He leaves behind the
love of his life of 39 years, Lydia T. Saul, his children James (Jimmy) R. Saul III (Jessica), Thea Ordez (David), Jeanne Gardea (Tom), Freddie Castillo (Cindy), Elizabeth Sena (Jim), Annette Munoz (Fred), and Edward Castillo, 21 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many close friends and relatives. James went by the names of “Jim,” “Jimbo,” and “Pops.” At the age of 17, Jim joined the Navy and received many medals of honor and awards throughout his military life. After being
stationed in various places, Jim finally retired from Midway Island. He then again retired as a Fire Chief Inspector from Stockton's Rough and Ready Fire Department. He enjoyed watching football, especially his #1 team—The Raiders—as well as watching many other sports and Western films with his best friend/dog, Sandy, who was constantly at his side. Throughout his life, he found pleasure in going golfing, going on cruises, cooking, and doing his routine shopping and errands. He had a unique way of greeting all those who he met and easily touched their hearts. Jim’s ashes are to be spread at sea.
SERVICES
A memorial service will be held on June 4, 2016 at American Legion Karl Ross Post 16 located at 2020 Plymouth Rd., Stockton, CA, beginning at 1 p.m. A celebration of Jim's life will immediately follow the ceremony. May he rest in peace and may we find comfort - Revelations 21:3,4.
