Gladys Duncan, 87, of Lodi, was welcomed into our Father’s loving arms on Friday, June 17, 2016. Gladys was born on November 22, 1928 in South Dakota to Theodore and Christina Wolff. She has one brother Gary Wolff (Shirley). She married Julius Kiesz in 1945 and they had three daughters: Juliet Uehling (Ken) of San Diego, Rosilyn Gaudet of Lodi, and Kathryn Trumbull (Rob) of Moses Lake, WA. She married John Duncan in 1969.
She was passionate about education. After receiving a GED, she attended college where she earned degrees and credentials in Elementary Education and Pupil Personnel Services. She taught several years in South Dakota before moving to Lodi in 1961 to begin her career with Lodi Unified School District. She taught at both Bruella and Victor Schools in the Lodi area. She tutored many children even after her retirement.
Her many activities included sewing, knitting, embroidery, dancing, traveling and painting. She was an active member at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ryan Uehling, Fresno, CA, Catherine Griffin (Eric), Walnut Creek, CA, Garrett Gaudet (Beth), Lodi, CA, Kevin Gaudet (Kirsten), Truckee, CA, Heidi Brummond (Nick), Anderson, CA, Troy Holden, Los Angeles, CA, step grandsons Jacob Trumbull, Redding, CA and Joshua Trumbull, Sacramento, CA. And ten great grandchildren.
Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Christopher Gaudet, and great granddaughter, Skylar Gaudet.
SERVICES
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Gladys’ life at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 701 S. Pleasant Ave. in Lodi on Friday, July 1 at 11:00 a.m. A reception in the church fellowship hall will follow immediately . Cherokee Memorial Park and Funeral Home assisted with the cremation arrangements. In lieu of flowers please gift The Children’s Ministry of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
