Elsie Mary Medeiros, 89, of Acampo, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 11, 1926, in Keyes, California to Manuel and Mary Medeiros. Elsie was raised in Manteca on a farm and was the youngest of her three siblings. She graduated from Ripon High School in 1945. Elsie met Teofilo Medeiros, the love of her life in 1963. The couple married in 1964 and began their life together in San Mateo, California where they welcomed their daughter in March of 1967. In 1978, they settled in Acampo, California where they purchased vineyard acreage, built a home and spent 48 years of marriage together. For 32 years, Elsie was employed by the Federal government beginning her career at the Sharp Army Depot in Lathrop, Ca. She also spent time working at Aims Research Lab in Mountain View, California and Defense Contract Administration in San Bruno, California.  She retired in 1986 from the Defense Property Disposal Rough and Ready Island in Stockton, California.

In her free time, she enjoyed spending every moment with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She very much enjoyed vacationing with her loving family and traveling with her husband. Elsie was a frequent visitor to St. Anne’s Bingo hall on Friday nights with her Granddaughter. She also was a fun and games gambler and loved visiting Jackson Rancheria. Elsie also took pleasure in relaxing at home on her porch or enjoying the view of her vineyard from her backyard.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Collier (Rick) of Acampo, CA, grandchildren Randi Stipe (Andrew), Albert Marroquin (Kailey), Whitney Rubalcaba (Teodocio), Thomas Collier, Antonio Medeiros, Sean Medeiros, Sam Collier, Chandler Collier, and multiple great-grandchildren including Maddex Stipe, Zyler Stipe, and another on the way.

She is preceded in death by her husband Teofilo Medeiros, her Stepson Antonio Medeiros, parents Manuel and Mary Medeiros, sister Alice Azevedo, and brother Albert Medeiros.

VISITATION

Visitation will be held from 2-8pm, Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way, Lodi, CA, with a Vigil Service at 6pm.

SERVICES

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10am on Friday, July 15, 2016, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 215 W. Walnut St, Lodi, CA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to UC Davis Medical Center, Tokay Davita Dialysis, and The National Kidney Foundation.
