March 2, 1935 - March 25, 2018 3/2/1935 – 3/25/2018
Frank C. Alegre passed away on March 25, 2018 in Lodi, California. Frank was born March 2, 1935 in Stockton, California to Joe and Vera Alegre. Raised in Tracy, California, he graduated from Tracy High School in 1950. Frank worked on the family dairy, and his father gave him the choice to go to college or get a new car. He chose the new car.
Frank met his wife, Helen Mayer, of Lodi in 1955 in Stockton, California. They soon eloped and were married on October 22, 1955. After working on the dairy for a couple of years, Frank decided it was not for him. He became a salesman for Stockton Hay and Grain and then Happyholm Feed in Lodi. Frank and Helen moved to Lodi in 1960. After selling feed for a few years, he bought his first truck in 1963. Frank’s business grew from 1 truck to several in the 1960’s, and in 1973 he incorporated his business to what it is today: Frank C. Alegre Trucking, Inc. Frank’s business grew due to his hard work and keen vision. He was creative and dedicated in his quest to become one of the largest family-owned trucking companies in Northern California. Frank had a no-nonsense attitude and was an extremely driven person. You always knew where he stood on issues, and he was outspoken and passionate about the things for which he cared.
In addition to his love for business, Frank’s love for family always came first. He coached numerous Little League Baseball and Pop Warner Football teams. He was a member of the Lodi Boat and Ski Club, an original member of the BOBS organization, and a member of the Elks Lodge for 49 years. He served on several City of Lodi Committees, and served in the National Guard. Frank was a dynamic person with a heart of gold once you got to know him.
Frank will be greatly missed by his sons, Frank Jr, Anthony (Kellie), and Gary; and grandchildren, Andress (Lacey), Audrey Georguson (Paul), Adrienne Sanchez (Mike), Adeline, Shandi Hunt (Jeff), and Alexander (Austin). He also leaves behind his great grandchildren, Sawyer and Sedona Alegre; Michael, Anthony and Mila Sanchez; Brighton and Briggs Georguson; Asen, Nova, and Emery Hunt; and Hayleigh, Madison, and Carson Alegre, siblings Dorothy Gonsalves, Bernice Gill (Joe), Dennis Alegre (Alice), and numerous nieces and nephews.
