Charles Raymer

March 12, 1947 - September 09, 2020

On Wednesday, September 9, 2020, Charles “Charlie” Raymer passed away at the age of 73.  Charlie was born in Aberdeen, KY to Uda and Verlene (Miller) Raymer on March 12, 1947.  He enlisted in the US Army, serving his country in the Vietnam War.  While stationed at Sharpe Army Depot, he met and married his first wife, Sherry (Morse) Raymer.  They had two children, Michelle “Miki” and Steven.  Charlie and Sherry were married for nearly 20 years until her sudden passing in August 1986.  Charlie found love again with Janice (Barnes) Raymer.  Charlie and Janice enjoyed traveling during their 32 year marriage until her death in October 2019.

Charlie was known for his outstanding work ethic.  He took pride in all that he did; whether it be working in the automotive service and hardware industries or caring for his home and yard.  He was a member of the 49er Faithful through the good and bad years, wearing his 49er shirts with pride.  He and Janice enjoyed traveling in their motor home, going to Alaska and trips to Yellowstone.  Charlie loved his dog, Rusty.  When working at Goodyear, Rusty would go to work with him every day.  Charlie loved Rusty so much that his final wish is to have his ashes mixed with Rusty’s ashes and spread out at Bodega Bay.

Charlie was preceded in death by his father, Uda Raymer; mother, Verlene Raymer; first wife, Sherry Raymer; second wife, Janice Raymer; brother, Leon Raymer; sister, Justine Voorhies; and grandson, Cody Morales.  Charlie is survived by his siblings, David Raymer, Generalle Raymer, and Christine Stayrook; daughter, Miki Raymer; son, Steven (Jackie) Raymer; step-children, Linda (Jose) Contreras, Gail Emery, and Rueben Garcia; grandchildren, Jennifer Contreras, Joseph (Kimberly) Cohart, Jordan Morales, Eric (Alyssa) Contreras, Christopher Contreras, and Kallie Raymer; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Moncada-Morales, Jayden Morales, Azalea Morales, Lazlo Cohart, Lola Contreras, and Mia Contreras.
