February 1, 1936 - September 21, 2020
Choon “Connie” Ryans, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on September 21, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 84 years old. Connie was born in South Korea on February 1, 1936 to Byung Yui and Pak Sang. After fleeing her village as a young child during the Korean war, she lived in Pusan, South Korea with her mother and 3 siblings until she met her husband Marvin, while he was serving in the U.S. Army. They fell in love and married in Korea but Connie stayed behind for over a year taking care of her ill mother before joining Marvin in the U.S. in 1963. Connie was an avid bowler and member of the 500 league. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing with her late husband, playing bingo, and going to casinos. Connie worked at Del Monte cannery in Stockton for almost 30 years. Later in life, most of her time was spent with her children and grandchildren always wanting to cook them a meal.
Connie is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Marvin Ryans. She leaves behind her four daughters Tonya Ryans, Tammy Ryans Lopez (Rudy), Tracy Recio, and Teresa Martinez (David), 12 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
