November 13, 1936 - January 21, 2021
Fred Lee Long passed away on January 21, 2021 in French Camp, CA at the age of 84. Fred was born in Missouri on November 13, 1936 and moved to Woodbridge at a young age. He attended local Lodi Schools and graduated from Lodi High where he met his future Wife Veralyn Bice.
His career in Steel fabrication spanned 54 years and included a partnership at Arc Steel and Klinger. He was founder of Stockton Steel and later Western State. He served as President of PDM, Strocal. He was well- loved by most in the business and upon his retirement was the most respected Steel Fabrication Manager west of the Rockies.
He dedicated most of his free time to his work but loved to get together with his group of friends, and as often as he could enjoyed going on hunting trips. Those trips were among his most cherished memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Clarence D Long and Wilma L. Nesselroad; his wife Veralyn R. Bice; siblings: Carl, Paul, and Dale Long; members of the Bice family, and Carma Cornelius-Long; and close friends Don and Arlene Redfern, Ike Henry, Al Clark, and Clay Marvin.
Fred is survived by his children: David Lee Long, James Leon Long, Susan Renee Long-Carlile; gradchildren: Amber Long-Agans, Matthew Long, Joshua Long-Agans, Mackenzie Long, Marissa Long, Alexandria Carlile, Lisa Agans, Brandy Agans, Paul Agans II; great Grandchildren: Caleb, Liam and Mercy. Also surviving are other family members: Eddie Long, Ron Long, Donnie Long, Gordon Bice, Paul and Sheri Agans; and close friends LC & Pat Williams and family, Bob & Janet Brooks, Doyle Henry, Bill Burch, Jerry Zimmerman, MaryLou Schaeneman, Glenda Roe, Chris Gonzaba, Wayne (Porky) Richardson, John Alkazak, Doug Bott, and Al Ellis, and caregiver and friend Tamie Hill (Blondie).
VISITATION
A visitation will be held from 1:00pm - 4:00pm on Friday February 05, 2021 at Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, 14165 N. Beckman Rd, Lodi, CA 95240.
SERVICE
The memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday February 06, 2021 at Cherokee Memorial Park, in the Garden of Angels located off Highway 99 at Harney Lane, Lodi CA, 95240.
