Patricia Huff, 89, passed away in Elk Grove, CA on May 9, 2021. She was born at home on September 5, 1931 in McCook Nebraska, the daughter of Helen Franklin Crossler and Marvin Meyerhoeffer.
Patricia attended college in Nebraska and began her career in radio in Arizona in the 1950s. She transitioned to television and worked for KOVR in Sacramento, CA. In 1972, she began her longest career endeavor at the Port of Stockton where she began as the Public Relations Director and later excelled to become the Deputy Port Director. She retired from the Port in 1999.
Patricia had a passion for reading and writing. She was the editor of the award-winning Stockton Port Soundings magazine and she wrote and self-published two novels, the critically acclaimed, award-winning first novel The Mourning Doves and Silent Sentinels, the sequel. In her spare time she loved to cook, garden, read mystery novels, work on crossword puzzles, spend time with family and friends, and provide a loving home to many beloved animals.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband James Huff and her sister Donna Crawford. She is survived by her children, Joseph Hougnon, Jr., Shannon Prickett (Mark), Gina Schlageter (Tom); step-children, Cris Heying (Steve), James Huff Jr., Larry Huff, Kim Streeter and Randy Huff; grandchildren, Sandra Larsen (Rick), Savannah Prickett, Jakob Duley, Summer Howland (Brandon), Haley Schlageter; bonus grandchildren Cole and Kara Sanderson; great-grandchildren, Sam Niemeier, Annabella Wallace; brother Jerry Meyerhoeffer and many nieces and nephews.
SERVICE
A graveside service will be held at 10:00am on Monday May 24, 2021 at Cherokee Memorial Park, located off Highway 99 at Harney Lane, Lodi CA, 95240.
There will be a celebration of life to follow at a family home. Those who wish to remember Patricia in a special way may donate to their favorite charity in her honor.
