Glendon Mark Woodward

February 22, 1965 - June 11, 2021

Glendon Mark Woodward completed his earthly journey, suddenly but peacefully, on Friday, June 11, 2021 at his home in Stockton, California. Born on February 22, 1965 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, he was a son of the late Raymond F. Woodward and Vera A. (Bragdon) Woodward. The second of three children, Glen enjoyed a wonderful childhood filled with church and music lessons. He was always a quick study, learning to play keyboard, bass guitar, and other instruments, and so church music became his passion as he grew up.

Glen had been impacted by the music of Wayne Goodine (a fellow New Brunswicker working in California), and so on September 1, 1986 he began further music studies at Christian Life College in Stockton. During that first year, he toured with Wayne Goodine and the college choir, and the experiences on that tour lit a fire in him that would bear much fruit. The CLC Youth Choir was formed in 1989 under his leadership, and they made a cassette recording titled “Fully Committed.” Their fresh sound caught the attention of Kent Washburn, President of Command Records, and the CLC Youth Choir would go on to record seven albums between 1990 and 1995, distributed by Word Records, and including two projects featuring the 150-voice CLC Mass Choir. Throughout this period the CLC Youth Choir would embark on extended concert tours throughout the country, eventually performing in 46 states and even the country of Jamaica.

After establishing his own production company “Past Twelve,” Glen relocated to Los Angeles to open a studio and to work with his musical mentor, Grammy Award winning producer David Foster. It was here that Glen had the opportunity to work with several mega artists in Hollywood, and to further hone his skills. More than thirty-five projects would be released bearing the Past Twelve label over the next several years. Glen had the ability to bring out the best in any singer he worked with, but he especially loved recording with gospel artists like Murrell Ewing, Mickey Mangun, Jonathan Moore, Melanie Elms, Tom Trimble, and the Gordon Sisters. Many of them became lifelong friends. Glen also worked with several churches musically over the years, including congregations in California, Washington, Kansas, Texas, Tennessee, Louisiana, Virginia, and Canada. And he was a songwriter of note, penning many contemporary choir arrangements and meaningful worship songs.

Glen married Sherrie Haney in 1987, and the Lord gave them two wonderful sons who were his pride and joy. He was a devoted dad, and was so thankful to see both Dylan Mark and Dawson Clyde following in his musical footsteps. Even at a young age, their involvement in church worship, recording, videography, and songwriting has blessed countless people. Nothing made Glen happier than to see his boys serving God and involved in church.

Glen is survived by his sons, Dylan Woodward and Dawson Woodward, both of Stockton, California; by his mother Vera Woodward, of Fredericton, New Brunswick; by his siblings, Raymond A. (Beverley) Woodward and Natalie (Jonathan) Ramirez, both of Fredericton, New Brunswick; and by his niece Emily (Ryan) Hennessey, his nephew Matthew (Katricia) Woodward, and their children, all of Fredericton, New Brunswick. He was predeceased by his beloved father, Raymond F. Woodward, in September 2020. And he called his darling mother on the phone every day.

A celebration of Glen’s life and ministry will be held on Thursday, June 24, at 11:00 AM Pacific Time (3:00 PM Atlantic Time) at Christian Life Center, 9025 West Lane in Stockton, with Pastor Anthony Mangun officiating. The service will be livestreamed at youtube.com/user/CLMinistryStockton for those who cannot attend in person, and a graveside service will follow at Cherokee Memorial Cemetery in Lodi.

Glendon Mark Woodward leaves behind a legacy of meaningful songs, a multitude of musical memories, and thousands of friends who were impacted by his life and talent. His ministry will continue to impact the next generation and beyond through his beloved boys, Dylan and Dawson.
