March 19, 1934 - August 12, 2021
Elvera Elaine Garrison passed away Thursday August 12 in Lodi at the age of 87. She was the beloved wife of George Garrison for 69 years. For many years they have worked together serving the Lord as George preached at the Lodi church of Christ on Washington Street. Elvera was born in Madera county to Joseph and Telvena Borba in 1934 and was raised in Chowchilla, graduating in 1952.
She had the distinction of being the first female student body president with the additional honor of representing her school at Girl's State. Soon after graduation she was married, and after George's discharge from the army moved to Abilene Texas, where George prepared to become a gospel preacher.
Her life centered on three things. Her love and devotion to God, to her husband, and to her five children. She also enjoyed doing the things she loved. Spending time with her grandchildren, baking, writing children's stories, painting, sewing, decorating, and teaching bible classes. To all who knew her, she had all the characteristics of the worthy woman in Proverbs 31.
Elvera is survived by her husband, George Garrison; five children, Jeanne Hitchen of Denver Colorado, Evelyn Manly of Lodi, Steve Garrison of Lodi, Pam Giles of Central Point, Oregon, and Kim Aguilar of Oroville, California; sister, Telvena Chumbley of Chowchilla, California; brother, Albert Borba of Tacoma, Washington; 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
