Hazel Towne-Parkerson

May 7, 1940 - November 10, 2022

Hazel Geraldine Towne – Parkerson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away on November 10, 2022, at the age of 82.  Hazel was the second child born to her parents Lawrence and Helen Towne on May 7, 1940, in Mancos, Colorado.

In the late 40’s her parents moved to California where she was raised in the Central Valley. She later moved to Eureka where she met her first husband Bud Nees and they had a daughter Lona. 

In 1960 she remarried, Clyde Carlile, and together they had two daughters Naiome and Fonda. When Clyde decided he wanted to be a stock car driver their life quickly began around the world of racing. She began working for a local jewelry store (Ten Window Williams) where she made all the trophies for Six Rivers Racing Association. In 1974 they relocated to Galt and she began working with her mom and sister in the upholstery business.

In 1981 she married, Frank Parkerson he had three children Ken, Dorean, and Bryan. She was so excited that she now had boys and loved them as her own. They owned and operated Lays Restaurant in Lockeford, 417 Café and a Lawn & Maintenance service in Galt. Several years later she worked as a caregiver for 10 years before retiring. They were together 39 years until his passing on June 30, 2019.   

Hazel was an avid Nascar fan, she enjoyed boating, riding their Harley, and spoiling their fur babies.

Hazel is preceded in death by her husband Earl (Frank) Parkerson, parents Lawrence Towne & Helen Dollinger, and sister Charlotte Fugate.

Hazel is survived by her children and their spouses, Lona (Steve Stinson) Longwith, Naiome (Larry) Grissom, Fonda (Mike) Sutton, Ken (Cindy) Parkerson, Dorean (Joe) Martin, Bryan (Gina) Parkerson, 7 great children, Allen Arnold Cavaluzzi, Aric Arnold, Charles Lusk, Tony Barajas, Gina Bussie, Kristin Woods, Caleb Parkerson and 10 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday December 5th, at Horizon Community Church, 446 Fairway Drive in Galt, with Pastor Tim Stevenson of Horizon Community Church officiating. Interment will be private at Galt Cemetery. Arrangements are being made by Cherokee Memorial.
