Laura was born in Tracy, California. As a young woman she moved to Stockton and worked until she met the love of her life Willard Arthur “Bill” Tower. They married September 19, 1954 and were married for more than 69 years. They had two children, Willard “Will” Tower and Glenda Duyst.
Laura was extremely involved with many community, state, and national organizations throughout the years as well as working with the Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation for 25 years. She had many leadership positions with California Women for Agriculture, American Agri-Women, PTA, 4-H, United Methodist Church, FFA, and was a trustee for the Escalon Unified Schools. Laura was always an advocate for agriculture, education, and diversity. She received many awards for her dedication to various groups but would rather be remembered for working hard more than any accolades she received.
Laura’s most important roles were sister, wife, mother, and “Grammy”. She leaves behind her husband Bill, daughter and son-in-law Glenda Tower Duyst and Robert Duyst, grandchildren Laury Ann Duyst, Bobby and wife Zarah Duyst. She also leaves behind her loving brother Frank Wheeler who loved and admired all her accomplishments and sister-in-law Darlene Wheeler. She also leaves behind her beloved sister-in-law Carol Tower Blackwell who was her roommate and who introduced Laura to her husband Bill. Many other family members and friends were blessed to have known Laura.
She will be greeted in heaven by her son Will who predeceased her.
Micah 6:8 “And what does the Lord require of you but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”
