Lamberto Tayag, Sr.

Lamberto Dayrit Tayag, Sr., born to Pascual and Francisca Tayag on March 9, 1930 in the Philippines, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Stockton, CA.

Bert, as he was fondly called, lived a full life that centered around his family. He was very considerate, loving, generous, kind-hearted and amicable. His love for life was incredible.  He did his best to stay healthy, so he could still live longer.  His zesty morning greetings were very uplifting.   He was very creative, with an exceptional memory for his age at 93. He enjoyed building and creating cabinets, shelves, trash cans artistically, or anything he needed for his convenience out of cardboard boxes. He loved watching various YouTube videos, especially WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) shows. Most of all, he enjoyed playing the card game called "tongits" with loved-ones as well as Bingo with his friends.

His long years of combined federal service employment with the USAFFE (United States Armed Forces in the Far East) and Pacific Stars and Stripes between 1950-1980 at the former Clark Air Base, Philippines, made him qualified to migrate with his spouse and a daughter to the United States in 1987. He lived in Alabama, New Jersey, and various cities in CA, but spent most of his remaining years in Stockton, CA. In his younger years, he enjoyed his travels to different places in the US, Canada, Japan and Europe.

Bert was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years (Consolacion) parents, 4 siblings - Candido, Conrado, Alfredo, Ofelia. He is survived by his eight children – Belinda, Vergelito, Dean, Lilibeth, Lamberto Jr, Joselito, Nolasco and Abbigail, 24 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was a faithful Catholic, who regularly viewed Sunday masses online.

He will be greatly missed by all who loved him, but we are so grateful to God for the blessing of his long life well-lived.
