Vesta Greer

September 15, 1928 - September 25, 2017

Vesta "Rita" Greer, 89, of Stockton, went to be with our Lord on September 25, 2017, surrounded by family.

She was born and raised on the family farm in Missouri, and the family came to California when she was a teenager.

Rita worked in the cannery lab, the school cafeteria, and even with her husband in his tree trimming business. Most important to her, however, was being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Whatever it was she did, she worked hard. She was always a gracious hostess, quick to provide for the needs of others, and loved spending time with her family and friends.

She was a lifetime member of Harmony Southern Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Jack D. Greer; great grandson Andrew Ryan Farmer; and her two sisters: Vella and Vera.

She is survived by her two sons: Mel Greer (Mary), and Mark Greer (Mary Louise); granddaughter, Melani Greer Farmer (Matt) and grandson, Michael Greer. She leaves nephew Gary Daniel and niece Linda Daniel-Miller, who were extremely close to their "Aunt Rita" as well as numerous nieces and nephews in California, Colorado, Illinois, and Arkansas. Rita will also be missed by her only great- grandson, Matthew Jacob Farmer. Also surviving are Mark and Mary Louise's stepchildren: Brett, Cheyenne and Arielle.

Bob was a student of life. He loved to read, learn, study religions, analyze and solve problems. His mind was always working.  He described himself as a loner though he loved to go on long road trips throughout the State and Canada and talk to strangers along the way. After the passing of his wife, Jan, in 2013, Bob enjoyed life to the fullest with new found interests in walking 11-17 miles a day, climbing stairs and riding his recumbent bike with his best friend, Mary Isham.  Bob was a very generous man, giving to what he called, his own charities, identifying people who needed a helping hand and ensuring their needs were met.
