Doris Smalley, 85, of Lodi, passed away February 1, 2018. Born May 2, 1932 in East Detroit, Michigan, Doris was a member of English Oaks Seventh Day Adventist Church in Lodi for the past 44 years. She taught for almost 40 years at local schools, first in Thornton, then for the Lodi Unified School District. She married Mel Smalley in 1955, and together they raised their 2 children, Linda Smalley (Ron Rall) and Melvin Smalley (Angie). Doris will also be missed by her 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Her beloved husband, Mel, predeceased her. Donations may be made in Doris’ memory to your favorite animal welfare charity.

Bruce Owen Roberts was born in Kalamazoo, MI to Bruce & Barbara Roberts & died suddenly in his sleep at home.
Bruce married Theresa Mendoza April 4, 1992 and they enjoyed 29 amazing years together. He is survived by his wife, Children Albert(Amber) Escalante, Danielle Escalante, and Bruce Roberts II. Also surviving him are his grandchildren Hannah, Alivia, Evelyn, Jayce, and Jade as well, as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a loving brother to sister Shannon Roberts, and brother in law to Rachelle Jachalke, Jim(Brenda) Mendoza, Dora(Eddy) Gomez, Kathy Mendoza and will be dearly missed by all of the Roberts family in Ohio as well.
Bruce loved being outdoors fishing, camping, BBQing with family and friends and working in his yard. His bigger than life personality will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bruce is preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents Iva (Maw Maw) & Owen Roberts, Maternal grandparents Ruth & Darrel Bogart and aunt and uncle Diela & Francis Davis.
December 6, 1940 - January 30, 2018
Janet Louise McDonald was born in Brawley, California on December 6, 1940. She was the firstborn of seven children to TR and Jenny McDonald. Janet received the Holy Ghost when she was eight years old. Her musical ability was soon apparent and she was playing the piano for church services by the time she was ten. During the 1960’s Janet wrote many songs, some of which are still sung today. Two of her most well-known are “This Holy Ghost is Genuine” and “I’ve Got the Holy Ghost.” At Christian Life Center in Stockton, she taught Sunday School, was active in the music department, and gave music lessons for many years.
Janet married James Jones in 1983, and God graciously blended their family, Jan with her two sons and James with his three daughters.
Jan worked for Valley Tow-Rite for ten years, and for San Joaquin County for 17 years, splitting time between Health and Human Services, the Registrar of Voters, and San Joaquin County Hospital. James and Jan served in the King’s Kids ministry at CLC, and led the First-and-Second Grade class for 14 years.
On January 30, 2018, Jan lost her battle with pancreatic cancer, and passed away peacefully at age 77.
Janet is survived by her husband of 34 years, James Jones, her sons Mark Morton (Farah), and Nathan Morton (Kristie), James’ daughters Rhonda Toy (Mike), Lisa Jordan, and Pam Woodard, siblings Joy Haney, Beverly Davies (Lew), John “Mackie” McDonald (Marilyn), Mary Wilson (Nathaniel), Julie Short, and their stepmother, Lois McDonald. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, TR and Jenny McDonald, her sister and brother-in-law Priscilla and Carroll McGruder, and her brother-in-law and former pastor, Kenneth Haney.

Lloyd DeWitt retired in quality control/food preparation with General Mills, working some years in Lodi and some years in Minneapolis. Lloyd served in the United States Army, enjoyed trains, his Grandfather clock, and any electrical device with surround sound- the LOUDER the BETTER. Though he did not have any children of his own, he still enjoyed the company of his nieces and nephews, his grandchildren, and many others.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd DeWitt and Lois Becknell, his wife Linda, and sister Jeanie Boone.
He is survived by his niece Diana Boone, Great niece Lily Boone, and several cousins; his step sister Judy(Becknell) Schnabel, step brothers John Becknell, and Dale Becknell and their children; his step daughters Deanna Tryon, Michelle Maekin, and their children;and his step son Morris Rodrique and his children.

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of one of our beloved one, Francisco Javier Hernandez Jr. Francisco’s
life was taken from him at the young age of 19 on the evening of January 23, 2018. He was born on April 24, 1998 in Lodi,
CA, where he was raised and lived. A recent graduate from Rio Valley Charter School, Francisco was a kind and gentle
soul, living an honest life. Always showing respect, and compassion for others. This was evident when it came down to
his younger siblings. No matter what was going on with his life, he always selflessly made sure his brothers and sisters
were taken care of.
As a recent graduate, Francisco was exploring options on continuing his education, and making a better life for himself
and his family. He enjoyed watching sports. Football in particular, that was his favorite sport. He would write, as a way to
express himself and his thoughts. He was wise beyond his age. Although his life was cut short, it was a blessing to have
him in this world, with us, for 19 years. Let his passing not be in vain. Let us remember that life is short; live your dreams
and love the people God put in your life. Francisco is now an angel looking over us. May Francisco Javier Hernandez Jr.
rest in eternal peace.

August 15, 1942 – January 23, 2018
Larry Michael Featherston, 75, a lifelong resident of Stockton, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2018. Larry was born on August 15, 1942 in Bisbee AZ, to Monroe and Blanche Featherston. Larry attended Franklin High School and later served in the U.S. Navy. Larry worked for Diamond Walnut in the maintenance department. Perhaps, Larry’s proudest role of all and title held was that of “Papa Larry”.
Larry’s beloved wife of 46 years, Carol, precedes him in passing. Larry is survived by his children, Kathleen (Jared) Brawley, Philip (Kristin) Featherston, his sister, Maryann (John) Welder, his brother, Phil (Jan) Featherston. He also leaves behind his granddaughters, his pride and joy; Alex, Emily, Amanda, Shelby and Sydney, great-grandson, Isaiah and many more loving family members and friends.

October 28, 1922 - January 20, 2018
Marion Elizabeth Howard, 95, passed into eternity on January 20, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband William Howard, who passed in 2006. They were married for 61 years.
Marion was born in Ansonia, Connecticut. Her father, James Bennett, was a builder and mother, Hannah Elmira, a home maker. Marion was 1 of the 4 children. Her parents preceded her in death. She was the last of her 4 siblings to pass.
Marion is survived by her children, JoAnn (Mike) Andrus, Michael (Ronda) Howard, Sherrie (John) Azevedo. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christopher Howard, Matthew (Colleen) Andrus, William Kirk Andrus, Andrew (Shannon) Ryan, Natasha (Jason) Maghoney, Megan (Dave) Gery; great grandchildren, Hannah Andrus, Jillian Maghoney, Mackenzy Hopper, Ian Maghoney, Emma Andrus, Maya Maghoney, Gavin Gery, Audrey Gery, Garrett Ryan, and her nephew John “JK” (Betty) Kelly.
Marion joined the Army Air Corps in 1944, and was officially a WAC and a World War II veteran. She had many great memories and always had a funny story to tell about that time in her life. She was in the Air Corps close to 2 years when she met her husband William in Great Falls, Montana, where they were married.
They then went on to many great adventures as William was in the Air Force. After World War II they were stationed in Germany for 4 years, then went on to Las Vegas, Fair Banks, Alaska, Oscoda, Michigan and then finally Hamilton Air Force Base in Novato.
William retired after 30 years of service and they relocated to Stockton and then Lodi after having a new home built in 1972. Marion continued to live in her family home until she was 92.
Marion had a witty sense of humor and always looked for the bright side in every situation.

December 26, 1946 - January 19, 2018
Don Chrisos, 71, passed away Friday, January 19, 2018 after an extended illness. He was born on December 26, 1946 to the late John and Evelyn Chrisos of Stockton, CA. Don attended Lincoln High School, Class of 1965. After high school he served in the US Navy on the USS Kitty Hawk.
He was a long time member of the Cement Masons Local 400 in Stockton. His quick wit and sense of humor will be missed by his friends and family. He is survived by his sister, Renae Meath, two nieces, one nephew, and several cousins.

Burial for Don will be held at Cherokee Memorial Cemetery in Lodi, California on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 10:00 am.
