LeRoy Modkins

December 6, 1936 - June 9, 2017 Le Roy Modkins was born to Willie B. and Ruby L. Modkins on Dec. 6, 1936 in Palmer Texas. He was the 2nd oldest of six children. Le Roy was previously married and had 4 children, Denise, Kenneth, Marlene and Robert who is deceased. Le Roy accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at First Baptist Church in Pittsburg, CA. Le Roy was called to active duty in the U.S. Navy on April 6, 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1958 after serving for two years. Le Roy went on to work for the V.A. Hospital in L.A. He was later employed at the mare Island Naval Shipyard. He retired from Mare Island after 37 years of service. Le Roy was united in marriage to Geraldine Crutchfield on June 22, 1983 in Reno, NV. No children were born to this union but Le Roy became the loving stepfather to Gerry’s four children: Michael, Sonya and Dedra Crutchfield and DeShawn Ray. Some of Le Roy’s Favorite pastimes were Bowling, Fishing and Traveling around the country. Le Roy loved spending quality time with his family. He was a true family man. Le Roy leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife: Geraldine Modkins, four step children: Michael (Carmelyn) Crutchfield, Sonya (Bernard) James, Dedra (Uli) Sonndermann and DeShawn Ray, His Three sisters Adella Anderson. Ethel Modkins and Ella Modkins and two brothers Billy Ray and James Willie Modkins both of who preceded him in death. a host of grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, other family members and friends.

SERVICES

Funeral services for LeRoy Modkins will be held Thursday, June 22  at 11:00 a.m. at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 E. Industrial Way, Lodi, CA 95240

INTERMENT

A graveside service is scheduled on Thursday, June 22, at 2:00 at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 W McCabe Road, Santa Nella Village, CA 95322.

Lemen Felix Romena

October 16, 1971 – June 5, 2017

Lemen Romena, Age 45 of Stockton, California passed away on June 5, 2017 after a two-year battle with cancer. He passed away surrounded by family who loved him. Lemen was born in French Camp, California to Martin Romena and Margaret Lemen October 16, 1971. He graduated from Stagg High School in 1989 and San Joaquin Delta College with an Associate of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1998. He worked in the telecom industry for eighteen years, the last three as a Technical Account Manager for ShoreTel, a company that specializes in Voice Over IP. Lemen and his wife were active leaders in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts with their two sons. Lemen loved to camp and hike with his family regularly. He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and had even gone to New York to see them play during their last season in the old Yankee Stadium. Lemen found great joy in attending his children's school activities and sporting events. Lemen was also a member of Stockton Central Seventh-Day Adventist Church and was the youth leader for several years. He loved working with youth and young adults and had formed a worship band with some of the young people, which was a great source of joy for him. He loved to play guitar and played at both church and work events.

He was known as a devoted and loyal friend, son, spouse and father; his humor and love of life will be greatly missed.  Lemen is preceded in death by one daughter, Audrey Elizabeth Romena. He is survived by his wife of nearly 20 years, Anne, his sons Lucas and Jared of Stockton, CA and his parents, Martin Romena and Margaret Lemen. Siblings Kathleen Sherwood of Stockton, CA and Valorie Romena of San Rafael, CA and Stepmother Kim Romena of Stockton, CA also survived him.

The memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Stockton Central Seventh-Day Adventist Church located at 1314 N. Madison St., Stockton, CA.

Vernon Weigum

3/15/1937 – 6/4/2017 Vernon Frank Weigum, 80, passed away June 4, 2017 in Lodi. Born March 15, 1937 in San Francisco, California, Vern worked for 28 years at General Mills. He and his wife of 50 years, Lee Ann, owned and operated Weigum’s Lodi Nursery for 35 years. He graduated from Lodi High School in 1954, and was a charter member of Temple Baptist Church. Vern was also a member of Tree Lodi, Lodi Community Concerts Association, Lodi Historical Society, and an avid Giants fan.

Vern will be missed by his children, Jeff Weigum (Marlene), Renee Weigum (Gordon Kirkland) and Lynn Weigum, and grandchildren, Jennifer Weigum-Bryant (Marvin), Julie Weigum, Josh Weigum (Heather), Casey Braun, Tori Braun, Nicole Grauman (Dan), Lindsay Wells (Nathan), Benjamin Macdonald, Olivia Macdonald, and Elijah Macdonald (Peyton). He also leaves behind his sister, Judy Weigum, brother, Wayne Weigum, and great grandchildren, Violet Grauman, Aylana Wells, Hadley Wells, and Jeffrey D. Weigum.

Vern’s wife, Lee Ann Weigum, and his parents, Herb and Bertha Weigum, precede him in passing.

VISITATION

Visitation will be held Friday, June 9, 2017 from 4pm -7pm at the Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, 14165 N. Beckman Rd, Lodi, California.

INTERMENT

Interment will be private at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi.

Marjorie Degenstein

January 19, 1936 - June 1, 2017 Having lived a fulfilling life, Marge Degenstein passed away on June 1st, 2017 peacefully at her Lodi home at the age of 81. Marge is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Edward Degenstein.

Born January 19th, 1936 to Nelberdine and Marvin Miller in Minot, North Dakota, Marge and Ed relocated to Fremont, Ca in 1959 where they planted their roots and soon started their family. In 1993, Ed and Marge moved to Lodi where they spent their golden years. Marge was actively involved with the UAW retiree’s and The Daughters of Isabella with St Anne’s Church. Marge’s biggest and favorite roll in life was that as grandmother including many children in the community who adopted her as their grandmother.

Marge is also survived by her son Greg and his wife Keli, her daughter Lori Gerick, and the pride of her life, her 9 Grandchildren, Tommy and his wife Annika, Shane, Drake, Gage, Brenton, Mikayla, Meagan, Samuel & Haley and her 2 great grandchildren, Owen and Tatum.

Marge also leaves behind siblings, Marlys Kesler, Mary Sink and Marvin Miller Jr. along with many nieces and nephews.

Marge is now reunited with her parents, along with her sisters, Marylyn Petersen, Millie O’Brien, and her brothers Milton &Michael Miller.

In lieu of Flowers, the family requests donations to Vitas Hospice Care who provided impeccable service and care during her final days.

VISITATION

A special viewing will be held for friends and family on June 7th, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, located at 831 Industrial Way in Lodi, California. A rosary will be held at 6:30 pm on June 7th also at the Funeral Home.

SERVICES

A celebration of life with a catholic mass will be held on June 8th, 2017 at 10:00 am at St Anne’s Church in Lodi, California.
