Mahlon Hall

January 29, 1937 - June 18, 2017 Mahlon Gerard Hall passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 18, 2017 in Jackson. Mahlon was born in Lodi, January 29,1937 to his parents, Preston and Elizabeth Hall. He was the oldest of three children. Mahlon lived and worked on the family grape ranch in Lodi. He graduated from Lodi High School in 1954 and served in the US Army during 1955 - 1957. Mahlon began his early career in the produce business. During his younger years, he started a sales career working for Guntert Steel as a steel salesman and eventually built a long term sales career in expansion joints and molded rubber sales at Holz Rubber, where he worked his way up to Vice President of Sales. Later in life, he worked for Griffith Rubber Mills and during retirement years he worked with a cherished boss and friend at Stockton Rubber Company. Mahlon married Sandra Krause in 1969 and together they raised a family, built promising careers and traveled to many vacation destinations. In addition, they built a home in Valley Springs and were active in the local church. Together they belonged to a boat club and visited many states living in their travel trailer until Sandra passed away in 2007. Mahlon valued travel, hunting, fishing and time spent with close friends and family. He enjoyed entertaining and hosting gatherings for friends and family. Survived by his daughter, Lori Estipular and her husband, Tony Estipular, daughter, Tina Cardwell and son, Sean Hall and wife, Adrian Hall along with eight grandchildren and his dear Lady Friend, Darlene Bennett who he adored for ten years.

Dana Hayhurst

November 24, 1958 - June 15, 2017

Dana Lyn Hayhurst passed away on June 15, 2017. She was born in Grand Junction, Colorado, on November 24, 1958, to Wayne and Bobbi Rogers. Her family moved to Lodi when she was two-years-old where she attended local schools and graduated from Tokay High. She was employed as an Executive Assistant with Saint Joseph’s Hospital for 30 years. She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Matt Hayhurst.

Dana will be greatly missed by her mother Bobbi Rogers, brother Doug (Doris) Rogers, nephew and nieces Casey, Kristian, Makayla, and Katelyn. She is also survived by her mother-in-law Gladys Hayhurst and sister-in-law Julia Hayhurst. She was preceded in death by her father Wayne Rogers.

Dana lived fully, fearlessly, and lovingly. She leaves behind a legacy of vacation tales, practical jokes and exceeding the speed limit of a joyful life. Her life was enriched by friendship with dearest neighbors Scott and Thea, Brad and Julie, and John and Lorrie.

Remembrances in her honor may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.

There will be no services. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Robert Dyer

Robert Jordan Dyer, baseball lover, business owner and master storyteller, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017. A Northern California native, Robert grew up when you could cross Highway 99 on horseback and when driving a car at 13 years old earned you only a warning by your local police officer. Called Bobby in his youth, he was known to get in his fair share of trouble and laughed about it for many years into the future. During the Korean War, he proudly served his country and was awarded both a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart, but rarely spoke of either. Instead, he preferred to talk about how great our country is and how lucky we were to inherit it. Robert learned of his first daughter’s birth while overseas, and upon returning home filled out his family with two more boys and two more girls, whom he talked about often. Over the years, Robert owned and operated several businesses, including convenience stores and liquor stores, coached youth baseball teams and laughed easily. His undying love for the Oakland Athletics was rarely rewarded but never seemed to fade. In his later years, Robert reveled in being a grandfather, talking often of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Easygoing and quick with an encouraging word (or a gentle tease), Robert always looked sharp in one of his many brimmed hats.

Time with Robert, Bob, Dad, Gramps and Grampa Bob meant entertaining stories, lots of laughs and a general feeling that you were exactly who you were supposed to be. It’s these simple times that will be missed the most.

Robert is survived by his five children, Tracy, Linda, Chris, Mike and Roxanne, 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, brothers Al and Dean and sister Beverly.

Services

A memorial service will be held at the Evergreen Chapel at Lodi Memorial Cemetery (Highway 99 and Harney Lane, Lodi) at 1 p.m., June 20, 2017, followed by gathering at 1111 Brighton Ave., Lodi.

Kathleen Felkins

July 5, 1922 - June 12, 2017 Kathy (Ahrweiler) Felkins was from a proud family of German immigrants who came to America late in the 19th century.  Settling in southeast Iowa, the Ahrweilers grew to prosper as farmers and owner-operators in the coal mining business.  Kathleen Elizabeth Ahrweiler was born in 1922 near Oskaloosa, Iowa, the first child of Charles and Marjorie Ahrweiler.  She passed away in Lodi on June 12, 2017.

Kathy married her teenage sweetheart, Keith D. Russell, in 1941, who shortly thereafter was drafted into the Army as World War II began.  During his long absence in Europe, Kathy worked in her family’s business as a bookkeeper.  Keith remained in the Army after the war, bringing frequent relocations for his wife and young son over the next several years.

The Russells arrived in Stockton in 1952, where Kathy continued her bookkeeping career with California Welding Supply Company, then with the Stockton Record.  Over the years she did bookkeeping for numerous small businesses and as a volunteer for various associations that she joined along the way.  Most notable among those was the San Joaquin Dixieland Jazz Society, with which she enthusiastically participated for more than twenty years.

Kathy and Keith were divorced in 1954.  She married Ira J. Felkins in the following year, but that union also ended after 24 years.  Thereafter, Kathy enjoyed an exceptionally happy and active retirement, selflessly devoting countless hours to the benefit of various individuals and organizations.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Charles Ahrweiler, Jr., and her sister Anne Jean Koopman.  She is survived by her son Ronald Russell, daughter-in-law Frances Russell, grandson Michael Russell, and great-grandson Carson Russell, all of Lodi; by her niece Stacy Ahrweiler Martin of Reno, and by her nephew Charles Koopman of Ponca City, Oklahoma.

SERVICES

A celebration of life for Kathy will conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 19th, in the Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, Lodi.

INTERMENT

She will be interred next to her parents at Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
