Kathy Bussman

June 17th, 1938 - August 19th, 2023

Kathy Bussman passed away peacefully at the age of 85 in Lodi, CA. She was born in Minnesota in 1938 and moved to Lodi at the age of 11. She enjoyed her bowling league and watching women’s volleyball at UOP. Kathy was also very involved in church and cared deeply about her congregation at St. Andrews Lutheran Church of Stockton. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Kathy is survived by her three sons, Randy (Heromi) Bussman, Keith (Karyn) Bussman, and Tim (Barbara) Bussman; grandchildren, Brooke, Bailey, Karley, Darci, Jacob; and great granddaughter Stella.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Gene Bussman and her grandson Kaden Bussman.

SERVICES:

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home 14165 N. Beckman Rd. Lodi, 95240.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Andrews Church in Stockton.

Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Garrit "Gary" Young

May 3, 1953 - August 17, 2023

Garrit “Gary” Allan Robertson Young, born in Mamaroneck, NY, famously known as “Plantman.”

Loving husband of Geri for 47 years; brother of Rory; brother-in-law to Rory’s wife Bonnie; uncle, and friend.

Preceded in death by parents Bob and Betty, Gary passed away at home, after a short battle with cancer. 

The founding drummer of Pavement, he also designed and manufactured the ShockMount microphone holder, and was a master gardener.

He will be greatly missed.

A memorial service for Young will be held at a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations should go to struggling or student musicians.

Douglas D. Mayer

December 6, 1953 - March 24, 2023

Douglas D. Mayer, 69, of Reno, Nevada, passed away on March 24th, 2023.  He was born on December 6th, 1953 in Stockton, California and graduated from Stagg High School.

Doug is survived by his mother and stepfather, Carol and Bob Paaoao, sister Debra DePaula, stepmother, Raylene Mayer, nephews Nick DePaula, Eric (Brittnay) DePaula, stepsister Nancy Palmer, and niece Hannah Rosato.  He is preceded in death by his father, Lester Mayer.

Doug was a loving and outgoing man who was an avid golfer, fisher and lover of horse racing.  His warm presence and cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.

Private internment will be held at Cherokee Memorial on August 24th, 2023.

Roger Byrd

November 27, 1968 - August 12, 2023

Roger Byrd Jr was born November 27, 1968 to Roger and Sylvia Byrd in French Camp, CA. He lived and worked most his life in Stockton, CA.

He moved to Las Vegas, NV in 2014 to be close to his family. Family and work were the most important part of his life. Roger was an avid fan of the Miami Dolphins. 

He moved back to California in 2021 and passed away in Sonora, CA. He is survived by his parents, two brothers Kevin and Steven Byrd, several Aunts and Uncles, and many cousins. He will be greatly missed by everyone who loved him.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, September 20th,  2023 at Cherokee Memorial Park, located off Highway 99 at Harney Lane, Lodi CA, 95240.
