Cherokee Memorial is honored to serve the Alcon family.
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family announces the passing of Stanley “Stan” Alcon, 70, at his home in Manteca on Friday, September 7, 2018.
He was born in Oakland, CA, on August 23, 1948 to Eleene and George Alcon. Stan lived life to the fullest everyday by his own rules and loved every minute of it.
During the Vietnam War, Stan served in the United States Army, 101st Airborne. Before and after his military service, Stan worked a total of 51 years for the Gillig Corp. where he was considered part of the family.
He shared his creativity of drawing and poetry and his love of nature with his first wife Carol Garcia Alcon. After 32 years of marriage, Carol passed away from cancer.
In keeping with his positive view of life, Stan found happiness a second time and shared his final 12 plus years with Ramona “Mona” Torres Alcon. They enjoyed trips to Disneyland and to the casinos, watching Sci-Fi movies and celebrating with family and friends, especially during Halloween and Christmas.
Stan was predeceased by his mother, father, first wife, step-father Manuel Garcia and brother James Dean Alcon.
Stan is survived by his wife Mona and step-daughters Rachel Torres and Yoli Vega. Stan was the proud “Papa” to two granddaughters Riley and Adele Torres-Vega. He is also survived by his sisters Georgianna Ledesma (Larry Agius) and Deborah Alcon, nephews Jared Ledesma and Aaron Ledesma (Lynette), great-niece Arin Ledesma, great-nephew Alex Ledesma and numerous other family and friends. He was a devoted father to his fur babies, Sammy, Oliver, Toby and Lucky.
His spirit and character have left a lasting imprint on his extended family and friends. His cheerful presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to have known him.
Graveside services and burial will be private.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life for Stan on Sunday, September 23rd, 2018 at noon at The Clubhouse at Las Positas Golf Course in Livermore, CA 94551. Bring your love, bring your stories, and let’s share our memories together!
