Frank Carrillo

October 9, 1922 - January 7, 2019

Cherokee Memorial is honored to serve the Carrillo family.

Our dear uncle, Frank Carrillo, passed away on 1/7/2019 at the age of 96 after a short illness.  He was born on 10/9/1922 to Gertrude Ochoa Carrillo and Frank Carrillo.  He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Frances Carrillo, his parents, and his siblings, Ray Barbarena, William Carrillo, Norma Carrillo and Anne Carrillo Falconi, and his niece, Karen Carrillo Palengat.  Although he had no children of his own; all of his nieces and nephews were his children.  He was always our favorite uncle.  He is survived by his nieces, Susan Falconi Marks (Craig), Kristine Carrillo (Rolf Lokke), Kim Sagasty (Brian) and his nephews,  Kent Carrillo, Kirk Carrillo (Cathy) and Francis (Bud) Swift (Mary). He took over the role of father and grandfather to Susan Marks (Craig) and their children, Joshua Marks and Andrew Marks after the death of Susan’s parents in 1980.

Frank was a member of the greatest generation.  He enlisted in the military at the age of 20 and participated in the invasion of Normandy and afterwards fought in the Pacific theater until the end of WWII.  After his retirement he dedicated himself to volunteering.  He volunteered to teach reading at the Stockton Public Library and to do whatever was asked of him at Hospice of San Joaquin.  Frank also volunteered with the VIPS (Senior Volunteers for the Stockton Police) for over 13 years, donating 3,230 hours.
