Terry Howard La Porte

November 26, 1946 - February 4, 2019

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Terry H. La Porte on Monday, February 4, 2019.

Terry La Porte started his career with the Division of Juvenile Justice (then known as the California Youth Authority) in 1968 as a youth counselor in Stockton. In 1979, he promoted to Senior Group Supervisor and continued to move up the ranks before retiring as a Senior Youth Counselor in 2000.

During his tenure Terry was known as an extremely supportive and understanding supervisor. He was a kind-hearted and loyal friend and was loved by so many. Terry always looked at the glass half full rather than half empty- he was a “prankster” always making staff and youth laugh. You always knew Terry was around because of his infectious “laugh” that would fill the room. Terry greatly contributed to staff and to the youth he served. Terry will certainly be missed by his family and friends.

Survived by: Barbara Bailey; Hollie Noel La Porte-Lopez (daughter); Justin Howard La Porte (son) and six grandchildren Justin, Efren, Sarah, Daniella and Eleazar La Porte-Lopez and Liam Noah La Porte. Preceded in death by; Howard Homer La Porte (father), John Escher (Jack step-father) and Maxine Victoria La Porte-Escher (mother)
