09/08/1943 - 06/10/2019
Sally Grace Walters Bushnell passed away in Walnut Creek, CA peacefully with her family by her side.
Sally was born September 08, 1943 to the proud parents Albert and Grace Parker in Nevada City, CA. Sally was the youngest of three children and looked up to her sister, Donnie (14 years older) and Brother Jack (11 years older). When Sally was three years old, the Parker family moved to Stockton, California which Sally would consider her hometown. Sally graduated from Amos Alonzo Stagg High School and later Delta College in Stockton with an AA in Business Marketing. After the death of her first husband, Michael Walters, Sally later met and married her second husband, Fred Bushnell and started a new chapter in her life moving to Antioch, California where she was living at the time of her death.
Besides being a devoted and caring mother, Sally also took care of many nieces and nephews as well as many children she cared for working at her child care service of nearly 30 years. The children there would affectionately call her, “Aunt Sally.” Sally loved children and often joked that she liked kids better than adults.
Sally leaves behind to cherish the memories, a loving and devoted husband of 40+ years, Fred J. Bushnell of Antioch, CA; four loving children Eric Walters of Antioch, CA; Elke Makishima and husband Craig of Sacramento, CA; Heidi Walters of Antioch, CA and Brandon Bushnell of Walnut Creek, CA. Sally, known by her 4 grandchildren as either Grandma, Grams, G MA & Nena, also leaves behind grandchildren Erica Walters (20); Jack Walters (13); Blake Walters (11) and Macie Makishima (3). She also is survived by her loyal cat, Yankee.
Sally enjoyed reading, shopping, domestic traveling (favorite places included New England states, Nashville, TN & Southern California), trips to Disneyland, seasonal decorating, watching professional football (Go 49ers & Patriots), listening to music (Elvis, Englebert Humperdinck, Tom Jones & Dolly Parton) and watching many of her favorite television programs. However, Sally’s most beloved pastime was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Sally was at her happiest when she had all her “kids” by her side.
A Private Memorial service is being observed by Sally’s immediate family on Monday, June 17, 2019. The Bushnell/Walters/Makishima family will be hosting a Celebration of Life service for Sally on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the Lone Tree Golf Course.
