Doyle Miller

September 16, 1928 - October 27, 2021

On October 27, 2021, Doyle Edward Miller went to be with the Lord at the age of 93. Doyle was born on September 16, 1928, in Haviland, Kansas to Roy and Mary Miller. His Family moved to the Galt area in 1937. Doyle graduated from Galt High School in 1946. In 1947, he married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Wagner. Doyle and Dorothy live in Herald until moving to Lodi in 2012. They were married for 65 years before Dorothy passed away in 2013.

Doyle began his busy career starting a dairy and farming in Herald. After many years he phased out the dairy and raised beef cattle. For 15 years during that time, he also worked for Super Mold foundry in Lodi and Stockton where he became the manager of the Stockton plant. He left Super Mold to become part owner and manager of Amador Minerals in Ione for 10 years. Doyle completed his career managing the stainless steel foundry division of Lodi Iron Works in Galt until his retirement in 1991.

Doyle was a member of First Baptist Church of Lodi, where he was a teacher and member on several boards. He was active in the Herald community and served as a Captain with the Herald volunteer fire department. After retirement, Doyle and Dorothy traveled throughout the USA. He was a skillful builder and worked on many construction projects for family and friends. Doyle enjoyed a variety of sports including fishing, waterskiing, and camping. In his retirement, he continued with his love of farming. He was happiest when he was on his tractor, providing family and friends with fruits and vegetables.

Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mary Miller, his loving wife, Dorothy Miller, brothers Kenneth Miller, Marion Miller, and Elvin Miller, and sisters Doris Schaal and Ardella Williams.

He is survived by two sons, Larry Miller of Lodi, Terry Miller (Tina) of Lake Almanor, and daughter, Beverly Pontius (Mike) of Lodi. He had seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
