LeRoy was born to George Minatre and Velma Underwood Mi natre in Woodland, Ca on December 4, 1934. His family moved to Stockton when LeRoy was a toddler. He is sur vived by his loving wife, Marjorie as well as his 2 children Cherie Minatre Lakin and Curtis Mina tre (Dee), and 2 step-children Cheryl Lawson (Roger) and Sherri Richardson, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents George and Velma as well as his two brothers, Elvin and Donald Minatre.
LeRoy was a born entrepreneur. At the age of 5 he was selling seeds in his neighborhood to generate income. In 1951, at the age of 17, he was named Super Salesman by the Stockton Record and received a Permanent Achievement trophy for adding a record-breaking 112 new subscribers in November 1951. Graduated from San Joaquin Delta College. He served in the Naval Reserves.
LeRoy went to work for Scott Brothers in 1952. After receiving his journeyman papers; He opened his own sign company in 1967, Mina-Tree Signs Incorporated. Traveling throughout the United States and Europe for various accounts, he was always on the go.
He was a founding member of the Horizon Christian Fellowship Church and has been a Christian for all of his adult life. He owned the Altamont Racetrack for 10 years. LeRoy was a founding member of the University of the Pacific Athletic Foundation created in 1970. He and his wife, Marjorie were major contributors to the PAF Foundation as well as being honorary Chair Persons for the 15th Annual Orange and Black Ball in 2014. Additionally he was inducted into the Pacific Athletics Hall of Fame in 2016.
He was President of the Lion's Club in 1978 and a member from 1967-1980.
He was a consummate collector and appreciated many areas of interest such as antiques, fine art and numerous collectibles.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
