Diane Brownell

Diane Jean Brownell, beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away on November 7 from complications of sepsis.

She will be remembered as a kind and loving soul who cared deeply for those she knew and was a friend to all whom she met. She was an avid quilter, had a passion for dogs, and was a devoted volunteer at Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue. She was a devout Christian and a member of Sierra Vista Community Church.

She was born in Sacramento in 1950 and grew up in Napa. Her family then moved to Sacramento where she graduated from Hiram Johnson and CSUS and worked at the Alcoholism Treatment Center. She married Michael Brownell in 1974 and worked at Legislative Counsel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Lorraine Hodorff.

She is survived by her husband, Michael, her children, Christine Brainerd and Eric Brownell, her sister, Judy Netzel, and grandchildren Emily and Gavin Brainerd.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 19 at 11 a.m. at Sierra Vista Community Church at 890 Morse Ave in Sacramento.
