Myrtle Hatsuye Fujitani passed away peacefully on January 11, 2022, at the age of 99. She was born in Acampo, California on June 19, 1922 to Sekijiro and Kane Fujitani. Myrtle was a 1940 graduate of Lodi High school.
In 1942, Myrtle and her family were relocated to an internment camp in Rohwer, Arkansas where Myrtle worked in the secretarial pool.
In 1946, Myrtle returned to Acampo and eventually found employment with Krieger Motors, the Ford dealership in Lodi. Myrtle worked in the business department of Krieger Motors which became Green Ford and, then Geweke Ford. Myrtle later found positions with Parker Volkswagen and Stockton Nissan.
Myrtle’s hobbies included reading and bowling. Her biggest love was adopting and caring for stray dogs and cats.
Mrytle is survived by her nephews Wesley (Gayle) Fujitani and Paul (Lynne) Fujitani, her grandnephews Corey Fujitani (Lauren) and Gregory Fujitani and her grandnieces Stacy Fujitani and Wendy Fujitani. She is predeceased by her parents, Sekijiro and Kane Fujitani, and her brothers Lloyd and Eddie. In addition to Lloyd and Eddie, Myrtle had two older brothers who died in infancy.
A private service will be held by the family.
