Domitilo De La Torre

February 13, 1940 - January 19, 2022

Dom (Tilo) R. De La Torre passed away on January 19, 2022 at the age of 81 years old. Dom was born in Portola, CA to Irene and John De La Torre, the fourth of seven children. He was married and survived by his loving wife Julie (Escobar) of 58 years.

Dom is survived by his two daughters Tina (Glenn) Riley and Maryann (Mike) Porter, two grandchildren, Julia and Collin Riley. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Rachel and Vince and brother Roy. He is survived by his siblings Clarissa, Alice, and Vera. After attending Stockton College, Dom joined the US Army where he served as a technical illustrator in Germany for two years, where he was awarded a medal as a M-14 Rifle Sharpshooter.

He had a lifelong passion for art and started receiving accolades as early as 11 years old, including being a published illustrator for the book “Man’s Physical Universe”. Some of his art can be seen in private collections. He loved the game of softball and was the team pitcher of the Hazelton Stars for over 20 years. Dom had an unwavering love for animals.

Dom worked as a Senior Planner for San Joaquin County for 33 years before retiring at the young age of 54 to enjoy traveling around the world, camping, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends at the cabin that he and Julie built in the Sierras. Most of all, he loved spending as much time as he could with his family.

SERVICES:

Funeral Services will be held at the Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial 14165 N. Beckman Road, Lodi CA 95240 on Tuesday, February 1st, 2022 at 10am. Due to protocol masks are required.
