Douglas Earcel Morris, a longtime Delta and Brentwood area farmer passed away on November 06th, 2022.
Douglas was born on August 04th, 1938 in Boulder, Colorado. He attended schools in Linden and Galt. He graduated from Galt High School. In high school he played baseball and basketball.
He first started working for Joe Perry. Then went on to work with Nomellini Construction for many years. He then started to farm in Stockton and the Brentwood area growing Asparagus, Corn, Wheat, Safflower and other crops. Later on, his son Ronald joined the farming company. Douglas stayed active with the daily farming operations. He was Vice President of the Asparagus Growers Association and a member of the Farm Bureau.
He had a passion for boat racing in his younger years. Douglas custom made his own boats, naming them “Wally Gator” and “Wishbone”. He raced with his brothers and brother in laws in many boat races in the area. His other passions were duck hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Alma Morris; A sister, Delores Van Steyn; and brothers Dale and Don Morris. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Annelene Morris of Stockton; Two sons, Douglas Morris Jr., and his wife, Marne of Sterling, Alaska; Ronald Morris and his wife, Marie of Tracy; five grandchildren, Michelle Ellis, Erick, Kraig, Jaimee and Jennifer Morris; Nine great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a brother, David Morris of Oregon.
Douglas will be forever missed, but will live on through the wonderful memories we will cherish and share with family and friends.
Service
A memorial service will be held for Douglas at 11:00am on Wednesday, November 30th, 2022 at the Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park and Funeral Home Located at 14165 North Beckman Rd., Lodi, CA 95240. Burial services with be private.
