June 11, 1949 - October 26, 2023
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Gail Sakata on October 26, 2023. Gail passed peacefully, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Gail was born June 11, 1949, in Sanger, CA to Cleo and Floyd Head. Her early years were spent in San Joaquin Valley where, in 1978, she met Mas Sakata. The two were married on August 28, 1979. Gail was a thoughtful and loving wife, mother, and “Grammy.” She enjoyed reading, interior design, gardening, knitting, and all things ocean. Monterey, CA was one of her favorite places to visit. Above all, Gail loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Gail is loved and survived by her husband Mas Sakata, son John Lopez (Tina), daughter Denise Reinken (Dave), grandchildren Keeli, Zander, and Ronin Reinken. She is also survived by her sisters Sandra Poindexter, Gwen Forman, numerous extended family, and her beloved cat, Tiger. She will be greatly missed by all. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Michelle Fischer and Vitas Hospice Services for their kind and gentle care. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a cancer society of your choice.
Please leave your condolences below.
Cherokee Memorial is honored to serve the Sakata family.
