Andrea Ryan

Andrea Sue Ryan (Lynch), age 56, of Modesto passed away Wednesday May 24, 2023. Andrea was born in Lodi on July 2, 1966 to David and Shirley Lynch. She spent her childhood years in Lodi, and was a graduate of Lodi High School in 1984. Andrea attended college at Chico State, getting her BA in 1988, and received a Masters in Education from St. Mary’s in Moraga in 1996.

After receiving her BA, Andrea commenced her career as an educator and taught in various schools and locations, including Dublin, Ireland, Hollister, Lodi and Modesto. She also worked as a Catholic School Principal in Portland, Oregon. Her commitment to her students’ success was always evident.

In 1997 she moved to Modesto, California and married her husband Tim Ryan of Limerick, Ireland. They were blessed with two wonderful sons, Kellan (22) and Gavin (20). Andrea loved to spend time watching her boys in their various sports/scouting/academic endeavors. She loved camping, and nature in general, and was a huge cat lover. As those who knew her, she also enjoyed the odd gin and tonic and/or socializing with her High School friends (the “Dudes”), her book club friends (the “Squad”) and her Bible Study Group (the “Holy Squad”). Andrea was a dedicated wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt, and a friend to all who knew her.

In 2016, Andrea was diagnosed with Cancer, which she fought long and valiantly until her death. She is preceded in death by her mother Shirley. Andrea is survived by her husband Tim, her father Dave, sons Kellan and Gavin, her sister Jennifer Lynch (spouse Frank Callanan), niece Gabrielle Callanan and nephew Mac Callanan.

A memorial mass to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday May 30th at 4:00pm at Our Lady of Fatima Church, located at 505 W. Granger Ave, Modesto, CA 95350. The burial will be a private family service. If desired, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society.
