Charles Roosma

April 8, 1953 - June 26, 2023

On the morning of June 26th, 2023, Charles L. Roosma peacefully passed away in his home at the age of 70, surrounded by his wife and children, after a long battle with cancer. Charles was known for his talkative nature and generous spirit, always ready to lend a helping hand and share captivating stories with anyone he encountered. His greatest triumph was the substantial amount of time he gifted to his family, creating cherished and enduring memories for everyone, especially his beloved grandchildren.

Born on April 8th, 1953 in Walnut Creek, CA, to Albert and Barbara Roosma, he was the third of five children. Throughout his life, he resided in various cities across California, including Orinda, San Luis Obispo, Huntington Beach, and most recently, Lodi. He pursued his education at Diablo Valley College, UC Berkeley, and CSU Cal Poly, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. While Charles considered himself a “jack of all trades” due to the variety of jobs he held, his 24 years at Lustre Cal Nameplate Corporation were particularly memorable for him.

On April 11th, 1977, Charles married Pamela, the love of his life, with whom he shared 46 years of happiness and two children. He was incredibly devoted to his family and friends and frequently volunteered for activities, ranging from craft fairs and music concerts to sports tournaments. Charles had a deep passion for reading, storytelling, learning, traveling, camping, martial arts (Judo), and experimenting with new gadgets. He had a long-standing affiliation with the Boy Scouts of America, having been a member during his youth and later serving as an assistant scout leader for his son’s troop. Moreover, he strongly believed in the importance of blood donation and took pride in donating regularly beginning from the age of 15. He left a profound legacy of love and strength, which stands as both a testament to his character and a guide for those who follow after.

Charles is survived by his spouse, Pamela Roosma, his son Joseph Roosma (Edilma), his daughter Mary Roosma (Aaron), his grandchildren Evelyn Roosma and David Harris, and his sisters Doreen Rau and Elizabeth Bluhm.
