September 29, 1982 - August 18, 2023
Allan Scott Rutter, beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend passed away unexpectedly on August 18, 2023, at the age of 40. He will be deeply missed by those whose lives he touched and the wonderful family he leaves behind. Though he is no longer with us, Allan’s legacy will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of those he cherished most, in the stories they share and in the memories that can never be forgotten.
Allan was born on September 29, 1982, in Stockton, California to proud parents, Dave and Kathy Rutter. As a young boy, Allan enjoyed spending his time tinkering. He was often found taking things apart and then putting them back together again, playing outside with friends, and sharing family outings with his sister, Laurie. In 1992, the Rutter family decided to lay down new roots in Galt, California, where Allan spent the remainder of his childhood, later graduating from Galt High School in 2000.
As a young man, Allan’s deep interest in computers along with his analytical mind led him to pursue a career with Apple, where he remained for seventeen years. He had a knack for fixing complex problems and an expertise that allowed him to eventually advance to Team Manager. In 2006, Allan met the love of his life, Lacey. The two were married on May 30, 2009, and spent a wonderful fourteen years together, in which time they had two incredible children: Jack and Lyla. Allan was a very hands-on father who cherished quality time spent bonding over Lego, video games and family trips. His children were his greatest joy.
Outside of family time and days at the office, Allan enjoyed working with his hands building chicken coops, raised garden beds, and even putting together his own retro arcade (using his beloved collection of Ryobi tools, of course). He especially loved to cook, often using every pot available to create delicious meals for his family. Though a bit messy, these are fond memories his family will always treasure. Allan was often described by those who knew him best as a brilliant man who knew a little something about everything- a Trivia master if you will. Allan additionally delighted in spending time with friends, trying new beers and looked forward to attending the Firestone Walker Beer Festival every summer. Most notably, Allan had a brilliant mind with a great sense of humor who always shared the most epic dad jokes- his loud, boisterous voice projecting across any room he was in. There is no question he was a bright light in this world, one whom will be missed by all those who loved him most.
Allan Scott Rutter is survived by his loving wife, Lacey; son, Jack (11); daughter, Lyla (9); parents, Dave and Kathy Rutter; sister, Laurie Rutter; as well as in-laws, Lance and Brenda Newhall and brother-in-law, Trent Newhall; in addition to many dear friends and fifty hilarious chickens.
