Nathan Richards

Nathan Charles Richards
1963-2024

Nathan (60) passed away on 21 January 2024 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Stockton, California, where he was also born on 29 March 1963. He was a lifelong resident of Lodi, California. He worked in the field of concrete placement and brick laying, and as a baseball umpire.

Nathan graduated from St. Anne’s Catholic School in Lodi, where he was an altar server for the Church. Nathan loved sports, especially basketball and baseball. He pitched on the Lodi High Sophomore team and was proud of limiting Stagg High School to three hits in a win at Stockton. Later he pitched in the Cal-Mex League.

Nathan learned to make lemon meringue pie from his grandmother Frances Richards at Wevertown in upstate New York. Later he gave pies as gifts to friends, relatives, and Sisters at St. Anne’s School.

Nathan is predeceased by his mother, Virginia T. Richards (d. May 2023) and his cousin, Susan Morris (d. February 2014), who he dearly missed.

He is survived by his father, Ronald J. Richards; a daughter Nasha, with Jennifer Northrup; and a son, Garrett, with Yvonne Davis. His aunts and uncles including: Lena (Joe) Villanueva, Stockton CA; James (Pat) Richards, Kingston NY; Parma Richards, Queensbury NY; Mary Anne Richards, Pleasant Valley NY. His cousins: Steve Villanueva, Stockton CA; Gregory Ramirez, Woodland CA; Abbe Ramirez, Sacramento CA.

Nathan will be interred in the Holy Family Niches - Pedestal Row A, Niche #3 Westside. A niche-side service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21 at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi, California. A priest from St. Anne’s Catholic Church will officiate.

Ron appreciated the support and prayers of his cousins back East, up in Truckee CA, and his cousin Archbishop Joseph Richards of Mansfield, Ohio. My thanks to the staff of Fulton Gardens nursing facility in Stockton for taking care of him since June of 2023.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lodi Boosters of Boys/Girls Sports, 230 W. Elm Street, Lodi CA 95240.

Please leave your condolences below.

Cherokee Memorial is honored to serve the Richards family.
