August 10, 1940 - October 29, 2024
Alva Lee Fisher stepped from this life into the arms of the Lord on October 29, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Alva “Al” was born in Fresno, California on August 8, 1940 where he spent his youth with his mother Maxine Hawes and brothers Robert “Bob” Fisher and Micheal “Mike” Schedler. He graduated from Fresno’s Roosevelt High School in 1957 and enlisted with the U.S. Navy where he served for 3 years. With an honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned to Fresno where he met the love of his life Sharon Gail Harper. After a short courtship, Sharon accepted Al’s proposal, and they were wed on January 5, 1963. The family grew with the addition of their son Kevin Dale and daughter Karrie Lee. In 1976 Al’s career as a truck driver took them to a new home in Stockton, California where he spent the remainder of his days. Al was blessed over the years with 11 grandchildren. Ashley, Jaime, Vance, Emily, Tyler, Sarah, Charlie, Garrett, John, Carson and Maggie all cherished Al very much and lovingly knew him as Papa.
Al was an avid golfer and, though a man of few words, he would never shy away from a good conversation whether you were a close friend or a perfect stranger. His silly humor often brought a smile to the room. He was a voice of experience and common sense when the family needed guidance, and he was always willing to help in any way he could.
Al was preceded in death by his mother Maxine, his brother Bob, his son Kevin and his granddaughter Jaime. His presence will be missed by many but the memories he left behind will last a lifetime.
