John Figone III

January 13, 1950 - March 25, 2024

John David Figone, III, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024. Dave was born on January 13, 1950, to the late John Jr. and Leona Figone. Native to Stockton, California, Dave graduated from Stagg High School in 1969. He later attended San Joaquin Delta College where he received his AA degree.

Dave grew up following in his father John’s footsteps of working in the onion fields of the San Joaquin Valley. Dave owned and operated San Joaquin Valley Vegetable where his beloved brother Mike became his business partner. Dave and Mike then created West Coast Vegetable, where they became one of the largest growers, packers, and shippers of onions in the country. Dave had a long career in the produce industry spanning 45 years before his retirement.

Dave was always actively involved in his children’s lives. From driving Kim and her horses to horse shows and drill team events to coaching Dan in football and baseball. Dave was a part of the Tokay High School football coaching staff. He loved coaching and sharing his love of the game with his players. Dave had many hobbies and loves in his life. He was an avid hunter, loyal 49er, and Boston Red Sox fan. He also loved to play golf and work in his flower gardens.

Retirement served Dave well as he enjoyed his days working in his yard with Teri, his wife of 23 years, and traveling in their motor coach with their dogs, Gunner, and Layla. His many morning coffee dates with friends, and supporting grand kids and his God children’s sporting events, filled his heart with memories.

Dave leaves behind his wife Teri. Brother Michael (Keri), daughter Kim Mulbarger (Todd), son Dan, bonus daughters Shanda Hanft (David), Sasha Sloup (Brent) and Shara Styles (Billy). His twelve grandchildren Leah (Adam), Abbie, Hannah, Jake, Jordan, Jenessa, Gavin, Brent Jr., Bradley, Addison, Jaxon, and Liam. Dave welcomed his first great grandchild Henry David in 2023. Dave was also blessed with nephew Joe Figone, niece Mary Figone, and God Poppy to Maddox and Mia Rabara.

Dave’s smile and infectious laughter always filled the room, and he touched every person who was honored to know him. ‘Poppy’ as he was so lovingly referred will forever be missed.
