Ernest Rodriguez

October 4, 1942 - April 10, 2024

Ernest M. Rodriguez passed away April 10, 2024 after reassuring his family that he was ready to be with Jesus. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and remained confident of his eternal destination throughout his month-long battle in the hospital leading to his death.

Ernie was born October 4, 1942 to the late Gilbert and Josephine Rodriguez and grew up in Stockton. He was preceded in death by seven of his siblings and his daughter, Andrea. He is survived by the love of his life, Lina; sons Ernest Jr. and Joseph; stepchildren Kim (wife Kerry), Tami, and Tracy; grandchildren Landen, Katie, Tanner, Kacey, Hayden, and Tatem; three great-grandchildren; and siblings Dolores Cheribel and Richard Rodriguez.

Ernie worked for the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department for 27 years until his retirement in 1999. Ernie married Lina in 1987 and they established a successful life and family. They did everything together, and loved each other more every day. Their love was very evident to their family and friends and set an example for generations to come.

In addition to building a life with Lina, Ernie spent his time in the outdoors fishing, camping, and golfing, and enjoyed running marathons in his earlier years. He also loved watching SF Giants games and going to the casinos with Lina and his sister-in-law, Yolie.

Ernie devoted his life to serving the Lord and was a loyal Parishioner of St. Michael’s Church. His faith was inspiring and he showed the love of Jesus to everyone with whom he interacted. His quiet, calming presence and big bear hugs will be greatly missed.

A Rosary will be held Thursday, May 23 at 6 p.m. at St. Michael's Church, 5882 N. Ashley Lane, Stockton.
