Marcellyn Beckwith

Marcellyn Ann “Marcy” Beckwith
April 28, 1943 - April 10, 2024

Marcy Beckwith was born in Stockton at St. Joseph’s Hospital on April 28, 1943 to Emma and Loren Heikes. She died with her beloved family at her side on April 10, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Medical Center. She is survived by her husband, Gary Beckwith; daughter, Tammie Murrell; nieces Debra Heikes and Kim Geiger (Greg), and nephew Darrel Lawrence (Paula). She also is survived by many great nieces and nephews, and too many friends to name. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sister, Lani Leberman and brothers Dennis and Charles Heikes.

Marcy worked for the San Joaquin County Office of Education for over 36 years, and she was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she and her sister, Lani anchored the church choir, Marcy as a soprano and Lani as an alto. They sang many beautiful duets, and were frequently requested by church members to sing in weddings of church friends.

Marcy and Gary made many memories as they traveled the world together and were especially fond of taking cruises. They also enjoyed their Timber Trails family, who they met spending many days enjoying their mountain retreats in Arnold.

Marcy was one of a kind, a warm and wonderful person who saw the absolute best in everyone and who was always there for anyone who needed her. Marcy was especially grateful for the loving care and devotion from Gary, Tammie and Debbie in her final months.

Marcy will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service followed by lunch will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 11AM, Zion Lutheran Church, 808 W. Porter Ave. Stockton, CA.
