January 22, 1926 - April 2, 2024
Virginia Rock was born on January 22, 1926 in her home on a 160 acre farm with no utilities, in White Hall, Illinois. She peacefully went with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at the age of 98 from her residence at Garden Oaks in Stockton, where she received compassionate loving care from family, friends, staff and Hospice.
After graduating from Ashland High School in Illinois in 1943, Virginia went to live with her parents in Douglas, Arizona. She met Otho Julian Rock at the Douglas Air Force Base where he served, and they were married on June 10, 1944. They relocated to Stockton in early 1950. They shared a loving Christian marriage for 58 years until his death in 2002. She is survived by her children, Tana Uriarte (George), Dennis Rock (Louise), and Lois Heinze, plus six grandchildren (Lynette, Tammy, Mark, Shannon, Hannah and Kenny), ten great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Donna Carol Rock, son Dale Rock, and granddaughter Tonya Johnson.
Virginia was a gentle loving woman who lived her life to the fullest as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful friend. She had the heart of a servant, a generous spirit, a deep faith in her Lord and unconditional love for all. She was a gracious homemaker, well known for her baking, especially her cookies and rolls, and a proficient seamstress. She was dedicated to praying for others and also to her greeting card ministry until she could no longer see to write.
Virginia was a resident of Stockton, California for 74 years. She was employed by San Joaquin County Public Works Department as an Accounting Technician for 20 years, where she was affectionately known as the lunch hour “Scrabble Queen.” Virginia was a faithful and active member of Quail Lakes Baptist Church.
Virginia’s favorite response: “I’m Thankful and Blessed.”
