Mike Areida, Class of ‘71, Lodi High School (legally Thomas Michael Areida), 71, of Stockton, California, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024. Born on March 19, 1953, in Visalia, California, he dedicated his life to serving others.
A graduate of Biola University, Mike was a beloved Youth Minister with Youth for Christ/Campus Life, Stockton Covenant Church, and most recently, Giant Step Programs. He also made a significant impact as a teacher at Chavez High School and previously at Stagg High School.
He is survived by his loving family which includes: his spouse, Maxine Areida; son Bradley; daughter Rachel Boenisch (Erick); granddaughters Kelsey and Alyssa; sister Ann Areida-Hintz (Doug); brother Paul Areida (Heather); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mike was a larger-than-life personality who embraced life to the fullest, making everyone he met feel like an instant friend. Known for his humor, love of adventure, and gift for giving nicknames, he was a compassionate listener who supported and strengthened many in San Joaquin County and beyond. He cherished laughter, good company, barbecues, travel, his family, and, most importantly, his faith in Jesus.
