Severa Salazar

June 22, 1957 - April 5, 2024

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Severa Marroquin Salazar on April 5,2024. She was born to Pilar & Flora Marroquin on June 22, 1957, in San Benito, Texas. The family moved to the Lodi area in 1960 and after attending local elementary schools, she graduated from Lodi High in 1975. She soon married her sweetheart, Andrew Orta Salazar. The young military couple first lived in Hawaii, where she fell in love with the islands and always felt truly at home there. Later, as her husband was reassigned, they lived at different military bases in the U.S., returning to California in 1988 as a family of six.

Severa held a variety of jobs as a young adult, but she most enjoyed working security at Westgate Shopping Center, private companies and her favorite, Honolulu Airport. When her family returned to California, she became a travel agent and was blessed to have worked the last 27 years for Robert & Bill at L&L Travel. She enjoyed traveling and never passed up a chance for a quick trip to the casinos. Severa was so very proud of her Texan roots but loved her Lodi community. That love led her to co-chair the Gang Alternative Project in the 1990s, helping at risk youth.

Severa was our matriarch, always there for us with her gracious love, amazing strength, and endless support. She will be missed greatly, by her large family and the many, many people whose lives she touched. She leaves behind her husband of 47 years, Andy; children, Daniel, Fernando(Brandy), Andriana(Anthony), & Angelina(David); her beloved grandchildren, Alex, Alfonzo, Julissa, Aurora, Anthony, Miguel, Elva, Joel, Zelena, David, Eeaa, & Faye; siblings, Consuelo(Rafael), Jose(Marie), Ramon(Diane), Ramiro, Ana(Luis), Pilar(Marie), (Olimpia), Humberto, Linda, & Sara(Kelly); her Tia Olivia and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Pilar & Flora; sister & brother-in-law, Margaret & Ernie; brother, Victor; niece, Laurie, & great-niece, Phoebe.
