Garth Williams

April 3, 1964 - June 10, 2024

Garth M. Williams, 60, of Stockton, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Born to Mike and Marlys Williams. He Grew up in Stockton and attended Tokay High School.

 In 1985 he married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Cindy. Together they nurtured a beautiful family that would grow to include their two children, Ryan and Sarah.

He served in the Marine Corps from 1983-1987 spending a year in Okinawa, Japan. Upon completion of his service, he began working for the family business Williams Tank Lines where he would take on many roles from Terminal Manager to Director of Maintenance. Garth was an avid music lover and found himself connecting with people through music. He was also a huge fan of Nascar and the SF Giants. Garth was very passionate about his family. His easy-going personality and humble demeanor made him well-loved by all those who had the opportunity to meet him. He retired in December 2020. Enjoyed working on wood projects, and not having to keep a schedule best of all doing what he wanted.

Garth is Survived by his wife Cindy of 39 years, Son Ryan, grandkids Brooke, Taelor, Wyatt, Daughter Sarah (Austin) grandson Enzo. His parents, Mike and Marlys, sister Corrine (Cj), in-laws Tom and Eva,  and close loving family/friends will feel his loss deeply.

James Walker Jr.

James Houston Walker Jr.

James H. Walker passed at home into the arms of Jesus, June 9th, 2024, with his wife Linda by his side.

James is survived by his wife Linda Henson-Walker of Escalon, His daughters: Sandra Tatum of Escalon, Priscilla Hauschildt of Sonora. He is preceded in death by his wife Lillie Walker, son James Walker III, grand daughter Lori Ring and son-in-law Richard Tatum. He also has thirteen brothers and sisters who preceded him in death.

James has seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

James had many jobs in his life but he started a career working for the working for the Dept. of Corrections at Deuel Vocational Institution in Tracy, CA. He helped open up Sierra Conservation Center in Jamestown, CA. While there he attended Hartnell College and received his degree in Fire Science. He then moved to Salinas, CA and worked at Soledad State Prison in Soledad, CA as fire chief until he moved back to Deuel Vocational Institute as fire chief until he retired in 1991.

James also attended Bible College and received his degree to become an Ordained Minister of the Gospel in the Pentecostal Church of God. He served as Pastor at the Highway to Heaven Church in Stockton, CA until his passing. He loved Jesus with all his heart and longed to see everyone come to know him and make Heaven their home.

He was very close to all his family and loved by each and everyone of them. He will be terribly missed.

A visitation will be held from 5:00pm - 8:00pm on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024 at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, located at 14165 N. Beckman Rd, Lodi, CA 95240.

SERVICE
A service will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 26th, 2024 at the West Coast Church, located at 4111 West Lane, Stockton, CA 95204.

Effie Hollstien

Effie Rose Hollstien
September 13, 1927 - June 6, 2024

Effie Rose Hollstien, born on September 13, 1927, in Stockton, California, passed away peacefully at home on June 6, 2024. She was the beloved daughter of Vivian Hayford and Elwood McKee and grew up in Stockton, where she attended Stockton High School. 

After graduating high school, Effie embarked on a fulfilling career, initially working with Poultry Producers and later dedicating her life to early childhood education at the Coretta King Children's Center (Preschool). Her passion for nurturing young minds led her to pursue further education in Early Childhood Development. 

On August 26, 1951, she married the love of her life, Jack Hollstien. Effie and Jack temporarily resided in San Luis Obispo while Jack completed his studies at Cal Poly. They then relocated back to Stockton, where their union was blessed with three wonderful children: Jeff, John, and Jana. Stockton remained their home, where Effie became a beloved and active member of her community. 

A dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Effie served on the John R. Williams Elementary School PTA board and was deeply involved in her children's and grandchildren's lives. Her grandchildren, Jessica, Brandon, Gregory, and Cameron, along with her great-grandchildren, Autumn and Luke, brought light and joy to her life. 

Effie was a woman of faith, remaining a devout Episcopalian throughout her life. She cherished many wonderful vacations domestic and abroad, enjoyed playing bridge, hosting dinner parties, and reading. Her home was always filled with warmth, love, and delicious meals, especially during happy holidays spent with family and friends. 

Despite not knowing how to swim, she enthusiastically participated in adventurous activities such as boating and skiing. She was surrounded by many longtime friends, some of whom predeceased her, leaving behind cherished memories of shared experiences. 

Effie was loved dearly by all who knew her and will be deeply missed. Her legacy of love, faith, and dedication to family and community will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her. 

A private graveside service to celebrate her life was held at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi, CA on June 19, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Delta Humane Society/SPCA of SJ County, or the Alzheimer's Aid Society in her honor.

Scott W. Kaighn
July 14, 1968 - June 03, 2024

Scott was born to William and Diana Kaighn in Lansing, MI. His growing up years were spent in Stockton, CA, with his parents and 2 sisters, Deborah Bradberry and Janet Harris (Tony). He graduated from Tokay high school in 1986.

Scott is survived by his 2 sister’s, Debby and Janet, brother in-law Tony, nieces and nephews, Cheryl (Mike), Nick (Katie), Kari (Saul), Branden (Faith), Alyssa (Graham), Chris, and Ashley, Great nieces and nephews, Jarred, Allie, Hannah, Olivia, Kaylee, Jordynn, Lucas, Ava, Liam, Grayson, Addison, Maya and Emersyn Rose. Aunt Lillian Remmey of PA, Uncle Tom and Aunt Linda of SC, and many cousins on the east coast.

Scott raced quarter midget cars as a child and worked in the automotive industry his entire adult life. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time with his close group of friends.

Scott’s services will be held at Cherokee Memorial Park, 14165 Beckman Rd Lodi, CA, 1:00 pm June 28, 2024, information regarding gathering to follow will be provided at the service.

Joseph Parra

Joseph Daniel Parra
July 24, 2009 - June 2, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Daniel Parra, who left us on June 2, 2024. Born on July 24, 2009, in San Francisco, CA at UCSF Medical Center, Joseph was the beloved son of Jessica and Rafael Parra.

Joseph was born with Joubert syndrome, a rare genetic disorder. From the moment of his birth, he was a fighter, and every milestone he achieved was a blessing. Joseph was a very happy boy, known for his goofy and silly personality. Whoever met him fell in love with him. He was a cherished big brother to his sisters Julieann and Jasmine Parra, and he enjoyed spending time with them.

We are truly going to miss Joseph’s constant smile and his silly laugh, but we know he is at peace now. From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital and Lodi Memorial Hospital for everything they have done for Joseph through the years.

Joseph is survived by his loving parents, Jessica and Rafael Parra, and his beloved sisters, Julieann and Jasmine Parra. He is also survived by his grandmothers Trish Werner and MJ/Nana (wife of Grandpa Frank Werner), great-grandmothers Mildred Capaldo and Theresa Werner, Grandpa Frank Werner, uncles Frankie Werner, Beto Parra, Fernando Parra, Jose Parra, and Arturo Parra, aunts Jennifer Werner, Maria Parra, and Marcela Parra, as well as all of his additional aunts and uncles in Mexico.

Joseph was preceded in death by his great-grandfathers Francis D. Werner and Julius Cataldo, and his grandmother Josephina Parra. Joseph was loved by all family members near and far.

A celebration of life will be held on June 17, 2024, at 10am PST at Cherokee Memorial Park and Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jouberts Syndrome Foundation in Joseph’s name at jsrdf.org.
