Deanna De Jesus

Deanna Marie De Jesus
July 17, 1972 - June 14, 2024

Deanna M. De Jesus passed away June 14, 2024, at the young age of 51 at the University of California, San Fransisco Medical Center. She was given the name Deanna M. Dupree at her birth from Donald and Cathy Dupree in Modesto Ca, on July 17, 1972, and would be their first child of two, her sister being Christ Dupree-Fletcher. She graduated Manteca High in 1990. Deanna would later have her first child Tristan Jarmillo in 1998, from her previous marriage.

Working as a waitress she happened to find a love that would last a lifetime. On March 5, 2005, Deanna would marry Carlos De Jesus and later that same year they would have their first child together, Carlos (CJ), and lastly, in 2008, they would have Joshua. Deanna knew Carlos was someone special from the start. She can see right through his tough guy image and fell in love with his big heart. It was not always easy, some big hurdles they had to overcome, but she knew it would all be worth it in the end. Carlos fulfilled her love for travel he always made sure he took her to all her dream destinations that he could. Whether they were sailing on a cruise vacationing at a timeshare or flying across the world he always tried his hardest to make her happy, and that she was.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great happiness to Deanna. She loved to entertain the people she cherished the most. Even people she hardly knew, Deanna was the kind of person who knows no strangers. She would open her house to anyone and everyone. The pure joy she displayed on her face when someone had arrived was so excitable and genuine. Whether it was one of her son’s friends or one of her own you, would surely be greeted with the warmest hug and welcomed into her home. Without a doubt her most precious pride and joy were her babies. Her three boys. The way she would speak about each one of them you knew right away how much happiness they brought her. She was meant to be their mother. Whether they were playing a sport, performing at school, or graduating college, she always put them on the highest pedestal and would support them in any way that she could. Even on the hard days, she always believed in them, her unwavering love was unmeasurable.

Deanna’s love and happiness was contagious to anyone around her. Her hugs were felt, her words would heal, and most of all, her smile will always be cherished.

Deanna always lived her best life and now we will honor her legacy by living ours.

Bill Ritter

William “Bill” Ritter
June 3, 1949 - June 13, 2024

In early June 2024, William “Bill” Ritter passed at home. Born June 3, 1949, Bill was a gentle soul, who, despite a little regular childhood mischief, was a wonderful person who dearly loved his family. He attended San Jose State University, earning a Bachelor’s degree, and worked for over 40 years at the San Jose Airport, in charge of managing the baggage department. It was there he became fondly known as “Tex”, a nod to the country western singer of the same name. Tex Ritter.

Bill was a quiet man, and despite never marrying or having children, he made sure to send heartfelt cards to family and friends on special occasions. He chose to live a solitary life on his own, in his own way, and he was just fine with that. After retiring from American Airlines baggage, Bill moved to Lodi, California to enjoy an even quieter life. It was here in Lodi that Bill started an unusual hobby, attending funerals at Cherokee Memorial in Lodi in his spare time. Bill always arrived on time, signed the guest book, and sat quietly in reverence in the back rows of the chapel. He prayed for the grieving families honoring their loved ones and was a silent observer of funeral rites at least 2-3 times per month. Bill did not discriminate, nor did he judge. It did not matter what type of service was being held, or what religion was being observed, as long as he could sign the guest book, take a memorial program, and watch the services. Bill did this for at least 7 years, becoming well known to the staff at Cherokee Memorial. He even enjoyed attending the luncheon seminars held at the Vineyard Chapel several times per year, being sure to make his exit with several free cookies in his pocket!

Bill will be missed by his sisters, Coleen Choisser and her husband John, Sherry, and many nieces and nephews, and of course, by the staff at Cherokee Memorial Park and Funeral Home. His presence at funeral services was near guaranteed, so for those with a guest book at home, we ask you to see if Bill Ritter ever signed your loved one’s book at the service. If you see his name, know that you and your family were in his prayers.

Bill will be laid to rest where he spent many hours; at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi, California. His presence there will ensure that he is watching over all the services being held, hopefully still offering his well wishes.
